Those urging sympathy for Rachel Reeves would do well to remember how the BBC treated Nicola Sturgeon when she shed tears at the Covid Inquiry

Rachel Reeves in tears in the debating chamber in the HOC.

“personal matter” apparently.

However why then was she in the chamber if the “personal matter” was so upsetting for her that she could not hold back her tears while knowing she was within a public forum.

Also it , as a public forum, was being televised and based on yet another major U Turn by her leader then her also knowing that that she would most likely be targeted by the opposition as the current UK Chancellor for failing to find money elsewhere.

Empathy and support for Reeves ?

While she , Reeves, had absolutely no empathy or support for Plaid Cymru Liz Saville Roberts when she , Saville Roberts, received what was an undignified response from Keir Starmer when he once said to Saville Roberts as a (non) response that “yes a belief that she talks rubbish” which prompted Rachel Reeves to burst out laughing as she, Reeves, relished her leader trying to ridicule and shame another female MP.

MSM Monitor on X reminded us that:

“Those urging sympathy for Rachel Reeves would do well to remember how the BBC treated Nicola Sturgeon when she shed tears at the Covid Inquiry. The former FM was insulted by Alister Jack. The BBC led its news bulletins with Jack’s unsavoury comments. Kaye Adams said Sturgeon wasn’t a human being. The corporation behaved in an utterly tawdry manner”.

Kaye Adams response to Nicola Sturgeon’s tears when Ms Sturgeon was giving evidence at the Covid Inquiry ?

Well when another BBC reporter indicated to Adams that sometimes we all forget that they too, as politicians , are also human beings that then prompted an undignified and unsympathetic response from Adams who said “Because in this instance they are not human beings they are politicians”

The same BBC published an article dated 2 July on Reeves tears where they wrote:

“Politics is a uniquely exposing trade”.

“The noble act of volunteering for elected office and then, for a lucky few, assuming the highest political office, comes rightly with scrutiny and difficult questions”

“And it is unquestionably true that the questions for the Chancellor Rachel Reeves have just got even more difficult after this week’s spectacular unravelling of the government’s plans for the Benefit system”.

“But it is also true that politicians are human beings and events that are rightly private shape their mood too and there is often little scope for them to hide”.

Strange how the BBC , when it is a pro UK “politician”, want to highlight that they as “politicians” are also “human beings” yet also the same BBC via Kaye Adams views that as not applicable for the likes of Nicola Sturgeon as a “politician” with the SNP.

So rules , empathy, sympathy and also support for some “politicians” via the BBC while the opposite for other “politicians” , namely those connected to the SNP.

Let’s be honest Nicola Sturgeon as leader of the SNP and Scottish FM was constantly ridiculed, chastised, relentlessly challenged, targeted, abused, disrespected , subjected to rudeness, subjected to impertinence, treated with inconsideration, treated and met with aggression, subject to the spreading of a succession of malicious rumours and lies against her character and also against her professional ability as a politician and leader of a party, was regularly treated with contempt, unfairly treated, always on the receiving end of boorish and crude behaviour etc etc ………….and that was just from the media.

The BBC , especially Kaye Adams , was more than willing to either instigate or join in with those who sought to destroy Ms Sturgeon and so attempt to end her political career and also try to discredit and so destroy her chosen party the SNP as well.

So as a female I have absolutely no sympathy, empathy or support for the Labour female chancellor and I also suspect that many of those who are females that are classified as vulnerable, poor and also are older females (pensioners and waspi women) within the UK who were directly targeted by her and her government and so subject to her , as Chancellor, seeking to take money away from them to fill the so called “UK financial black hole” also have no sympathy, empathy or support for her either at this moment.

Perhaps the non doms, the Bankers who have no cap placed on their bonuses , the wealthy who as yet are not subject to a wealth tax, the private health companies, the board members and shareholders of privatised water companies , the energy companies , the large tech corporations and also all of the wealthy donors to the Labour party can console Ms Reeves as she has gone to great lengths to try to protect and support their financial interests.

Perhaps the Commons Speaker could enlighten us all as to what apparently was said by him to Ms Reeves that then made her cry , as that is now being speculated as being the real cause for her tears while in the HOC yesterday.

Seems to be that if that is the case then Ms Reeves is one who can dish it out (sarcasm and unpleasantness) but can not take it, as she herself is not timid in her making spiteful nasty comments towards the SNP , who she then expects that they as individuals and as a party just take it and so bear it, even though the SNP know how cr*p her party are as a UK government , how bad she is as a Chancellor and also how they , Labour, have proved to be absolutely no “change” from the previous lot, as in the Tories , as a UK government.

Pity Reeves had no tears to spill for those who suffer within the UK because of her government’s bad and cruel policies that punishes those UK citizens who cannot defend themselves against a terrible new UK government and also against a corrupt and compromised right wing media who are complicit in also demonising the weak, poor and most vulnerable within the UK…..and also constantly targeting and also blaming all of the UK’s woes upon those from foreign shores, who are also vulnerable and in need of support, empathy and some humanity (which the current UK government and the UK media are seemingly devoid of giving them any – as they as a UK government and UK media prefer instead to champion , defend and support only the oppressors -Israel- while ignoring the oppressed – Palestinians).

  1. The current Private Eye alleges that Reeves left the figurehead disabled Labour mp in tears after a private meeting recently…

  2. Thank you Liz for your excellent piece reminding us of all of the duplicity of the media and the disgusting way that Nicola Sturgeon especially was treated.

  3. I’ve just left rather a cryptic comment to this effect in the National. I can’t believe the fuss there has been about the chancellor’s wobble when she has smiled through speeches denying pensioners warmth in winter and shown no emotion at all when striking real fear into the hearts of our disabled. And then there was Nicola Sturgeon who was personally and publicly pillioried by a sneering Alister Jack, vilified across the UK by national tv, the press, several MPs and MSPs on SM and the unionist half the population for feeling bad about covid victims.

  4. I have to thank the excellent MSM Monitor X account for reminding me of how the media, especially the BBC, treated Nicola Sturgeon during Covid when she became upset at the Covid Inquiry, so I cannot take any credit for that in my above comment but he, MSM Monitor, also inspired me , as he often does via his tweets on X, to write my above comment that included other things as well as Ms Sturgeon’s bad treatment by the media.

You know the more the BBC, other media and also all UK political parties say and do against us ( as in LIE) , then the more determined they make people like us to continue to expose them and so defend our legitimate and justified position on Scottish independence (and too reinforce our support for the party that we vote to govern us within Scotland, as in the SNP).

They as politicians and media , who all support the UK State, assume that their words and actions are making us all feel dejected and demoralised but what they are really doing is reinforcing our belief that they are the real oppressors, the hypocrites and the deniers of justice and democracy. So we all then become even more determined to get independence ASAP.

So they , the various UK State governments, are also those that we reject and so we do not recognise them as our government as they do not act in our best interest.

This is not a United Kingdom , it is not a Union between nations of their UK State, it is not a UK State of equals but it is a UK State that is politically dominated by politicians and media from only one nation alone. No clues as to whom I am referring to as surely it is obvious.

Which nation within the UK State was the only nation that saw an increase in the allocation of MP seats in the HOC while other nations had either a decrease of allocated MP seats or they remained the same- and also which nation within the UK State dominates in the media, Sport (actual sporting teams/individuals and also sporting media) and too the Creative Arts within the UK.

Also the so called ‘UK internal market’ was never as significant while the UK was a member of the EU, but now it is regularly deployed and so weaponised against our Scottish government to prevent them seeking any progressive and workable solutions (policies) to rectify and so solve any current problems that exists in Scotland that need to be (and should be) addressed.

Scottish independence will break down those UK State barriers imposed by those who use the (weak) excuse that our Scottish government needs to comply with the UK internal market and so they, as a Scottish government, are then always subject to the control and domination imposed by the UK State government aka an English government that sits in a English based parliament.

“Crocodile tears” can then be what Starmer & co (and others) weeps when we, Scotland, eventually , via a majority, finally all have the courage to leave their UK State for good. It cannot come soon enough for me. (and others).

So thanks to MSM Monitor and lang may his lum reek….and his ‘X’ account also.

  5. Excellent thanks Liz. I have not one iota of sympathy for Reeves, she is not fit for job anyway.
The media fawning over her, boo hoo, so sad, is just sickening as you say she sheds no tears for the poor, vulnerable, disabled and older folk she is removing essential funds from.

They might have u-turned on turning down PIP for disabled people at stage one of the appication, in England, but they are still imposing cuts to ‘universal credit’ and btw when they switch people from ‘legacy benefits’ to UC, they do not pay the person anything for FIVE weeks. The person is either expected to starve, or take a ‘loan’ from the DWP which has to be paid back! That’s Labcons’ DWP, disgraceful.

Stuff her and her heartless greedy LabCons party, and if she can’t be professional, step aside to allow another nasty grifter do the job of punishing the poor and vulnerable.

  6. Well written, Liz.

Kaye Adams!? She’s the biggest erse on BBC Scotland and there’s plenty to choose from.

There was a member of the public interviewed just before the Hamilton by-election who said he liked what Starmer was doing in government.

We really do get what we deserve at times when we have such a stupid and ill-informed electorate.

Incidentally, didn’t The Miracles write a song about Reeves?

    Tears of a clown?

Totally agree with you that some people do indeed get what they deserve at times however with some people making a wrong voting decision then that also impacts other people’s lives as well.

“There was a member of the public interviewed just before the Hamilton by-election who said he liked what Starmer was doing in government”

    “liked” ?

So basically this person was ‘bucking the trend’ in public opinion in what most people can now clearly see that this new Labour government, as led by Starmer, as being a complete disaster all because of what he and his government were “doing”.

That is a bit like the time when some people in England thought that Boris Johnson was doing a good job as PM. You wondered exactly what standard were these people applying to even think this and then vocalise that kind of nonsense in public.

Though when it was the recent local English Council elections which happened prior to the recent By-election in Scotland well even they all knew how bad Starmer and Labour were , hence they punished them , unfortunately many people decided to vote for Reform UK instead so they went from bad to worse in their voting decision.

Just before the Hamilton By-election was a time when we were all way past the point of realising that our energy bills were not going to go down with Labour, food prices were still high with Labour, other utilities and bills were not going down with Labour, Grangemouth Refinery workers were betrayed with Labour, Waspi women were also betrayed with Labour, Brexit was not going to be voted on again with Labour , Israel were being supported to murder women and children with Labour, Pensioners were let down with Labour, GB Energy was a big con with Labour , the previous Tory government were being blamed as an excuse for them not delivering real “change” with and by Labour and then a lot of government money and investments on government projects that then created jobs were all being done in and for England.

So what specifically was it that this person liked that Starmer and his government had being doing that I assume must have excluded the list above , unless some or all of the list above was what he actually liked about Starmer and his government. Which then would make him, as a voter, a former Tory that changed his vote to the new Toryfied Labour party.

Some people would keep voting for Labour just to spite others but when interviewed they should be asked to list what it is that they liked and not just make a stupid remark that they “liked what Starmer was doing in government” ………..the Q is what was it that they did not like that the SNP were doing here in Scotland because the By-election was a vote for an MSP in the Scottish parliament and not for a MP for the ducking UK parliament ! (so what the H had Starmer and his government’s performance have to do with a Scottish by-election for the Scottish parliament…..see some people are bloody clueless).
