It’s kind of sad that when I see headlines like the one above, in the Guardian today, I immediately think:
Did they bother checking NHS Scotland? When they say ‘England’, do they mean ‘UK?’
There’s no mention of Scotland in the report, but not for the first time, I find something that shows their habitual Anglocentrism. From Myeloma UK, undated but posted in March 2025:
Approval – the licensed treatment is approved for general use on the NHS. Approval is based on clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. Two of the appraisal bodies in the UK, that approve treatments for use on the NHS, are the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC)

So , the choice from the thrust of the article is either :
Scotlandshire is part of Greater England and is included in this medical breakthrough or
Scotland is already Independent and is part of ”the rest of the World ”.

Thus “UK” is a very handy couple of letters.
We often find in the tv news and the papers that the UK, along with the Country and Britain, is used when what us really meant is England, while Scotland is used completely differently. When they want to report bad news (which is most of the time) Scotland gets a mention. When they want to report good news about Scotland (which happens very rarely) that’s when the UK is once again deployed.

Good ol’ Blighty!
We must remember in 2014 the Brits in Westminster informed us there was…………NO UNION, therefore no equality etc.
There was instead in 1707 the extinguishment of Scotland and the Enlargement of England.
So Greater England.
Our noses daily rubbed in it by the BBC, Hootsmon, Toadygraf, Times, Herald, Record, Mail, Supress et al and all the Puppet Politicians led by Starwars, Cauld-Ham and Findley (could not fin’ his ain erse).

Poor Van Gogh cut his ear off due to madness induced by such affliction, that’s why it’s called gone-a-ear.
