Yet when he was interviewed by ITV in March of this year, where they reported that he said this (and he did , because he also tweeted this himself).

‘It’s going to make a difference to so many pupils and so many patients’ Ed Miliband says schools and hospitals will get ‘tens of thousands of pounds’ off their energy bills as they get new solar panels The plans are part of the first major project under Great British Energy“.

Where ?

In England , as opposed to being in the country where the (pretend) GB Energy HQ is located, as in Scotland.

BTW when interviewed he , Milliband, also said this would be happening “across the country” , now we have heard a UK politician say this many a time, including all UK PM’s, only to know that the ‘Country’ can be either the whole UK or just England.

Mostly they are referring to only England.

So via GB Energy’s ‘First project’ these solar panels being placed in Hospitals and Schools, well the UK government , as well as controlling reserved policies like Energy, they are also in charge of the English NHS and also English Education, so when Milliband says “across the country” is he really meaning only across England ?

Well he also declared in another interview that these solar panels for Hospitals and Education establishments would indeed be in England.

Also on April 14th Milliband tweeted:

“Clean energy = lower energy bills for schools = more money to spend on what matters for pupils. That is why Great British Energy is rolling this programme out across the country”

This was in respect to a tweet that he, Milliband, retweeted from Sadiq Khan the Labour London Mayor who tweeted:

“NEW: I’m proud to announce the first schools across London to benefit from our £2.9m Greener Schools programme. This will help schools to cut energy bills and spend more on books, technology and staff – while tackling air pollution and cutting carbon”.

So London another beneficiary of this ‘First project’ for GB Energy.

But wait let’s be fair here , they did not indeed forget Scotland, as they also gave money to our government for renewable energy schemes , but just not that much money really compared to what they are spending in England via GB Energy.

The UK Government tweeted in March 2025:

“A new wave of community clean energy projects will be built in Scotland with £5 million funding from @GBEgovuk and the UK Government. The funding will help communities roll out new renewable infrastructure like hydropower, onshore wind and solar.”

Someone tweeted in response to this tweet on the amount of money for Scotland:

“When you see figures in the low millions being banded around related to energy projects across Scotland you should be asking and is that it“?

Also they , the UK government, will give £2.88 million for Wales and £1.62 million for Northern Ireland to spend towards Renewable energy schemes in their respective countries.

(BTW the UK government website states that there will “£4.85 million for Scotland” and not the £5 Million that they stated in their UK government tweet, as they also stated that the total amount for all three devolved governments will be £9.3 Million).

London , a city, got £2.9m for some of their Schools.

Where as Scotland, a country, gets only £4.85 million to help “roll out new renewable infrastructure like hydropower, onshore wind and solar“.

On the UK government’s website they state “In England around £80 million in funding will support around 200 schools, alongside £100 million for nearly 200 NHS sites”.

“In addition,(English) local authorities and community energy groups will also be supported by nearly £12 million to help build local clean energy projects – from community-led onshore wind, to solar on rooftops and hydropower in rivers – that can help drive growth”.

“Community energy groups will be able to access a share of £5 million in grant funding to support projects that will help communities generate their own clean power. This will build on funding to back projects including a new hydro-power technology in the River Dane to generate renewable energy for homes and businesses in Congleton, Cheshire“.

“The UK government is providing £6.8 million for existing Local Net Zero Hubs located across England“.

All of the flannel we had from Sir Keir Starmer on Scotland being the only place where they, Labour, could locate the GB Energy HQ office. So we got the ‘HQ’ (nameplate) but not the GB Energy Chairman as he is based , checks notes, in England. Also it seems that the majority of money is also mostly going to England.

They get the feast we get the crumbs, again.

Vote SNP in 2026 as a first step to us eventually being an independent energy rich country, where as a independent nation our elected government can then invest far far more in renewable energy schemes within Scotland than this Labour UK government are ever willing to do and ever will do. As for them, as a UK government, it will always be ‘England First’ for all government money, projects and schemes.
