The SNP CE and the Yorkshire Ripper
Professor John Robertson OBA, Crime Correspondent
The Yorkshire Ripper investigation ran from August 1975 to January 1981, 5 years and six months, before Peter Sutciffe was charged with the murder of thirteen women. The excessive length of the investigation is attributed to the lack of a computerised system, DNA evidence or mobile phone evidence. Several tents were employed to cover the scenes of the bloody murders.
Yorkshire and national media were extremely critical of the police performance.
Operation Branchform, an investigation into possible fundraising fraud by the SNP began in July 2021 and is still open nearly 4 years later, with no sign of an arrest. One big blue tent was employed for no apparent reason. Computerised systems, DNA (from Nicola’s confiscated hairbrushes) and mobile phone records were available but seem to have been little help.
Scottish media just love this.
A Netflix series – The Camper Van, the Hairbrush and the Waste of Public Funds – is planned for 2030.

The real crime was the SNP purchase of a campervan for campaigning which everyone knows is allowed only to the Labour Party.

My guess it will end and the damning outcome (if any) will be revealed just in good time for the next Holyrood election.

The ‘she/her/it/them has said “they” will not stand.’ is transphobic and hatefully nasty toward Nicola Sturgeon.

A political show trial – if it comes to a trial. Otherwise just some mud-raking by a politicised police process.

The extended length of time that this very complex investigation has taken is perfectly understandable . Comparisons with the Yorkshire Ripper case are really unfair .
In the Yorkshire Ripper case there were 13 murders and several attempted murders , so lots and lots of possible evidence waiting to be found . Easy – peasy !
By contrast , in Operation Branchform the Police and Crown Office are working with no evidence and having to work tirelessly to give the impression of a crime – any crime – having been committed – by someone ! This takes time , and with the SNP involved , the longer it can be dragged out the better it suits the MSM and other political also rans in Scotland .
The investigators will be guided by the old Latin phase : tempus fugit , aeternitas manet ( time flees , eternity remains ) so , no need to hurry !

It’s a “show trial” and nothing more.
It was so overplayed with the blue tent and clear evidence bags being carried out of the house obviously containing T bags (Tetley not Yorkshire), that made the whole staged event so ludicrous.

Will the Campervan be released in time for the 2026 election? Have the police been looking after it and servicing it, and have the SNP written down the depreciation (just to keep the books straight).
The Daily Wail will be investigating.

Awful comparative aside, police in the Yorkshire Ripper case were not being used as the public face of justice system being manipulated for political propaganda purposes.
You only need look to BBC Scotland’s treatment of the announcement by NS to stand down – Glenn Campbell and Angus Cochrane both unashamedly revisiting the BBC version of ‘what concerned the public’, rather than the reality of a patient public have lost any remaining faith in the impartiality of Scotland’s media.
