Police Scotland – progression in reducing domestic abuse offences by officers

In May 2023, former Chief Constable, Sir Iain Livingston launched a campaign to reverse discrimination in the force, including that against women.1

Notably, three days ago, it was reported that Police Scotland had rejected 25 applicants with tattoos including terms such as ‘sex slave’, an image of a “decapitated geisha head gagged with a rope” and one with the “rear aspect of female in underwear”.2

While change often requires multiple pressures, there is evidence of progress in one closely-related area – domestic abuse offences by police officers.

From Freedom of Information Request 24-2661 – PSD – Officer criminality – domestic – 8 yrs, published yesterday, we can see that after peaking at 21 cases reported in 2021/2022, there were only 18 the following year and 12 last year.3

With regard to actual convictions, after peaking at 6 in 2021/2022, there were only 3 the following year and only1 last year.

  1. Often police were recruited from the military. Often with stress and other conditions. The masonic played a part. Monarch and country and all that. The Official Secrets Act. More equal gender might make more balance.

    The Police waste £ Millions on malicious complaint that does nut hold up in Court. Directed from UK Gov. Servants of the Court. Civil servants with loyalty to the UK Gov. Restrictions of Devolution. For Westminster to try to keep control, in secret. Privy Council.

    Abused women do not get legal aid. They have to stay in unsafe abusive places. Women who co habit do not have equal rights. In England they get legal aid. They do not become homeless.

    Women and children are kept safer.
