  1. This morning my wife phoned her GP practice Ryehill Health Centre Dundee at 8am the phone line to the practice only opens at 8am , she was immediately given a recorded message lasting nearly three minutes descibing things the practice cannot help with then she was advised to hold because she was number 45 in the queue , she held on continuously for just over an hour she got through to speak to a receptionist just after 9am and was given an appointment for 3.45pm that day. This is common in fact it is more common to be told all appointments are taken phone back tomorrow at 8am.The figures you provide for the number of GPs in Scotland looks good compared to england wales NI but how many of the GPs in Scotland work full time and what number of days or hours do they consider full time furthermore how many of them work part time or term time and how many hours a week is their definition of part time and how many weeks a year term time.People i speak to and its my experience too , say that every time they go to their practice the place is empty or near empty.
