I’d kind of given up on reacting to Kevin McKenna, in the Herald, for the good of my mental health, but he’s got me going again today with:
Human zoo drug rooms are win-win for SNP’s roasters and bangers – IS there no end to the SNP’s loathing of Scotland’s poor and vulnerable people, especially in Glasgow? If Scotland’s party of government isn’t threatening to imprison working-class people for speaking out of turn in their own homes they can be found trying to curb their drinking and inspecting the contents of their bins for signs of delinquent household waste practices.
WTF I hear you say. Does he know what ‘roasting’ is? And’ ‘bangers?’ Doctor?
Anyhow, here we go.
Loathing the poor and vulnerable? Would that include the child payment and the lowest child poverty in the UK? The most affordable housing, lowest rents and council tax? The free HE tuition, prescriptions and bus passes? The most police officers and the lowest crime in the UK? The most doctors, nurses, midwives, radiologists and home visitors in the UK? The shortest waiting lists, overall, A&E, 18-week and cancer? The lowest stillbirth and abortion rates in the UK? The bedroom tax and two-child benefit compensation? The winter fuel allowance to be restored at least in part?
Remind me, what are Labour (Kevin’s secret love) doing at the moment on the above?
McKenna doesn’t mention the current child ‘grooming’ gangs scandal sweeping England currently or the fact that a named person scheme like the one proposed by the SNP for Scotland but denied by a UK court, is clearly what is needed there. Wonder why? This in the Herald on 30 July 2016??
Kevin McKenna: Named Person scheme has seen SNP at its worst
Curbing their drinking? The minimum alcohol pricing scheme that is proven to save lives and reduce hospital admissions? Can governments not ‘curb’ dangerous behaviour in the wider public interest?
Finally, based on the above, do the poor and vulnerable loathe the SNP in turn?
Sadly for Kevin, it’s the opposite. Opinion polls are clear. Before the 2024 General Election, in June, members of social class C2DE were far more likely to support the SNP than for any other party while for ABC1, Labour was the preferred choice, far more even than the Cons. Right, enough.

It’s sad to see a modern Esau in public. Kevin is more to be pitied than scolded or rather ignored in his shame for trying to emulated a Scottish Jeremy Roaster Clarkson.

He surely won’t be using the SNHS, or the new Forth road bridge, or any services put in place by that pesky SNP that he wouldn’t find available in Englandshire.
Meditation, John, breathe, inhale, exhale the BritNat lunacy and lies that you debunk daily. There, all gone! 👍

I remain curious how long the list is below the “Rode” mic, my hunch would be two lines, ‘Left hand’, Right hand’…

You have to wonder what the britnut state have on McKenna or maybe he’s just at the top of the go to list of naturally sleekit journalists. It must be tough because he’s got a lot of competition.
Golfnut.

There is something seriously wrong with the man. He can’t face Labour’s failing and is trying to transfer all of them onto the SNP.
It’s a serious psychological condition.

Thanks for the link Bob, but I wish I could unread that McKenna rant.
The article below which I found on the Glasgow City Council website is the best article on the new facility that I have read.
I hope it will become more widely read and shared.
It also includes a short YouTube film.
https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/article/11760/Glasgow-opens-UK-s-first-safer-drug-consumption-facility
“The UK’s first safer drug consumption facility opens in Glasgow on Monday, 13 January.
Based at the Hunter Street Health and Care Centre, the facility – to be known as The Thistle – will operate daily from 9am to 9pm, 365 days of the year.
Safer drug consumption facilities (SDCF) have been in operation across the world for decades. Evidence shows these facilities can combat drug-related deaths and improve public health by offering a clean, safe place for people to inject their own drugs – obtained elsewhere, not provided or purchased on site – under clinical supervision and access a wide range of treatment and support.”
