Weight-loss drug being pushed by Scottish Labour onto SNP associated with 100 hospitalisations and 10 deaths

BBC Scotland has, of course, attempted to pin one possible weight-loss drug death onto the Scottish Government despite her awareness of the drug resulting from UK Labour’s attempt to use it to drive the obese back to work.

From the National on 22 October 2024:

Jackie Baillie (above), Scottish Labour’s health spokesperson, told The Times: “Weight-loss jabs, alongside changes to diet and exercise, have the potential to be a game-changer in the fight against diabetes and cardiovascular disease.”

She said the Scottish Government “must ensure that patients who have been recommended these approved jabs by their clinician can access them – the results could be life-changing”.

From CNN on 10 November:

Compounded versions of semaglutide, the active ingredient in approved diabetes and obesity drugs Ozempic and Wegovy, have been associated with at least 100 hospitalizations and 10 deaths, the chief executive of Ozempic maker Novo Nordisk warned Wednesday.

“Honestly, I’m quite alarmed by what we see in the US now,” Novo Nordisk President and CEO Lars Fruergaard Jorgensen told CNN. “Patients who believe that they’re getting access to a safe product, and they believe they’re getting semaglutide … I know for a fact that they are not getting semaglutide, because there’s only one semaglutide, and that’s produced by Novo Nordisk, and we don’t sell that to others.”

  1. Good food, diet and exercise. Counselling. Why food is being over eaten for anxiety? Or comfort needs.

Governments intervention to ban bad fats, sugar and salt. School cooking lessons. Helpful. Go more fruit and veggie. Delicious. Green tea, flavoured water.

    1. Ach I’m away to have a bag of crisps…school cooking lessons when I was at ‘school’ were about how to make cakes and fattening pastry lol! There are many reasons for people being overweight, I try not to judge, except for the above greedy lying, scheming trougher in the article.

  2. Your choice of headline photo being Damn Baillie minus keep left signs indicates you’ve been overly exposed to James Cook/sorry Nick Robinson/sorry BBC framing/sorry propaganda/sorry bullshit for too long…

  3. It is unfortunate for both her and her party that she, Ms Baillie, as one who is ‘afflicted’ by excess weight , is then , in her role as Labour’s Health spokesperson, the one who communicates the message of:

Weight-loss jabs, alongside changes to diet and exercise, have the potential to be a game-changer in the fight against diabetes and cardiovascular disease

Physician heal thyself or being a Labour MSP and Labour’s Health spokesperson keep telling others to do that which you yourself are obviously both failing to do or even attempting to do.

Baillie delivering this message on weight is like an existing chain smoker being given the task to tell others to give up smoking to prevent Lung problems and also the potential risks of developing cancer.

It then leaves others to ask why then does this not apply to you !

Do as I say not as I do , that is how Labour always operate (like other parties too) where they take the public for fools in trying to always pass the buck onto the SNP , aided by their pro UK client media, while it is obvious they themselves think they are exempt from complying with the very same things they accuse the SNP of being negligent in and also that they, Labour, often state that the SNP are avoiding doing !

Othering is a constant tactic Labour choose to deploy, in fact if Baillie is ever asked a Q on any existing or future Labour policy she then starts to (not) answer the Q with a tirade of #SNPBAD (abuse) as a so called but definitely not appropriate response.

This then tells you that she, Baillie, has nowt positive to communicate about what Labour have done or will do in the future , if they themselves were in a similar situation or had to act upon a same issue that has confronted the SNP as the Scottish government.

Classic Baillie deflection that avoids the Q being asked and yet so very revealing as it says so very much about how little Labour really have to offer us the public as a government at any level, as in at UK, Welsh or Scottish government level.

Scotland should be in red alert as this is the low standard we can expect if Labour do indeed manage to con enough voters to vote for them in 2026.

Even if Labour do manage to succeed in 2026 (God forbid) and then finally the buck stops with them as the new Scottish government , then still they will continue to find others to blame for their mistakes and wrong decisions (and any resulting catastrophes) as apparently blaming others is allowed to be done by them, Labour, or so both they and their media seem to think so.

However never ever can the SNP blame anyone but themselves for absolutely everything and anything, including anything not even within their powers or connected to Scotland Ha Ha , or so it seems if one listens to opposition parties , read newspapers here in Scotland and also watch BBC’s Reporting Scotland , BBC GMS on radio (and also, at times, STV News and too many editions of Scotland Tonight as well).

Do not even get me started on the BBC’s various Politics programmes and debate programmes as we all know too well what their position and agenda is as far as politics in Scotland is concerned.

(You know some politicians actually tried to blame the SNP for the UK Brexit Leave result as apparently Nicola Sturgeon, the then FM, did not do enough during the campaign for the EU referendum, and as a further laugh, some within Scotland actually believed that to be true , thus in believing that they also chose to totally ignore the fact that every region within Scotland voted Remain in the EU referendum but apparently our (Scotland’s) vote neither counted nor mattered in that UK vote ).

Well that is nothing new is it, as in us not counting or being those who mattered within their UK.

Don’t vote Labour Scotland, as they only have one mission and one message for Scotland and that is to try to stop Scottish independence and to keep on repeating #SNPBAD.

Hardly progressive or inspiring for our future is it ?
