Korean ferry fiasco as 7 out of 10 are not equipped to respond to electric vehicle fires

It’s never-ending once you start looking abroad, as a Mull Tory councillor from Buckingham, once suggested we do, for ways to improve CalMac, the as he put it, ‘worst ferry service in the world.’

Turns out he was full of hot air.

When you do look, you keep finding the opposite and with every investigation it becomes clear that thanks to 17 years of SNP subsidy, Scotland actually has the best – most frequent, most reliable, cheapest and safest – ferry service in the world.

Only yesterday, I could write: You can now add Tasmania to New Zealand, Greece, Isle of Wight, Washington State, British Columbia, Lake Ontario, Alaska, Channel Islands, Scilly Islands and Malta ferries for less-safe, less-reliable, less-frequent and more costly systems than we enjoy in Scotland https://talkingupscotlandtwo.com/2024/10/08/you-can-now-add-tasmania-to-new-zealand-greece-isle-of-wight-washington-state-british-columbia-lake-ontario-alaska-channel-islands-scilly-islands-and-malta-ferries-for-less-safe-less-reliable/

Seems you can now add Korea, one of the most affluent countries on the planet.

From MK yesterday:

According to a survey, 7 out of 10 coastal passenger ships operating in Korea are not equipped to respond to electric vehicle fires.

From the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, last November:

According to a CalMac spokeswoman: “Like all risks on board a vessel, the risk of carrying electric vehicles has been assessed by trained personnel and we have developed procedures following the release of specific guidance issued by the MCA (MGN 653) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). Guidance by the MCA and EMSA was developed through consultation with the industry, and specifically the industry body, InterFerry, of which we are a member.”

  1. Please advise on how to unsubscribe from this over-productive site. I receive too many emails form everywhere and it has to stop. However, I have tried to unsubscribe several times and it seems to be impossible to achieve that.

    1. Listen I too am ‘Anonymous’ on this site and I am inclined to be way too over productive in my lengthy (wordy) comments that I add onto here , I am not however one who has subscribed to receiving emails on new articles (comments) from this site. (and if I was I would take full ownership as it only being myself to blame for the excessive amounts of emails I signed up to receiving via my subscribing to them).

I do however think that I personally should refrain from or limit what I write on here as a responder to posts on this blog (will do that going forward).

However I fail to see what purpose (and who) it would serve in this site limiting it’s output when there is so so so much to defend against from the output of the MSM and all of the opposition parties .

Whose unrelenting attacks upon the Scottish government, the SNP as a political party and also upon independence while simultanously defending and justifying the words and actions of other parties in opposition to the SNP and also the status quo of the UK remaining intact (to include Scotland).

I fail to see how commentating that this site is “over productive” is in any way helpful to anyone but those who oppose independence.

Over and out (me that is, and actually hopefully for yourself , you too) Ha Ha.
