From Island Echo, yesterday:
Isle of Wight East MP Joe Robertson says that Islanders should be ‘deeply concerned’ that no mention was given to ferries in a keynote speech by Transport Secretary Louise Haigh this week. At the Labour Party Conference on Monday, Louise talked about ‘ripping up the roots of Thatcherism’ across UK transport but made no reference at all to ferries.
The Secretary of State for Transport spoke extensively about trains and buses and mentioned flying, cycling and walking. But the lack of any mention of ferries – including cross-Solent ferries – has raised questions as to whether the Government has any plans to tackle the issues being witnessed here on the Isle of Wight.
What’s wrong with the Isle of Wight ferries?

Listen , as far as Labour are concerned then the only #Bad for any Ferries in their UK are those Ferries within the UK that are operated in Scotland only.
That’s the adopted collective Pro UK message via the BBC in Scotland , other media in Scotland, Labour in Scotland, other parties in Scotland , other parties outside Scotland , Pro UK members of the public (both living on any Scottish Islands and also via those not living on any Scottish islands) and also via the Labour UK government ministers, Labour MP’s and too the Labour leader as in the current Labour PM.
The rule in Scotland is apparently to NEVER mention other #BAD Ferries in the UK outwith Scotland .
Do we really expect the Labour Transport minister to highlight anything negative in connection to the Isle of Wight Ferries ?
Not as long as Labour (or any other party) are in charge of the UK.
“UK Labour Transport Secretary does not even mention Isle of Wight’s ferry fiasco”
Not shocked am I .
As where there is any #BAD outwith Scotland within the UK then all blame must be perceived as being at either a ‘local’ level or indeed with the company themselves but no blame can be ever placed at the feet of the UK government .
(As that’s only reserved, as a position, for the Scottish government who are always to be seen as those at fault or those to blame in Scotland especially via Ferries being #SupposedlyBad )
So blatant is their, Labour’s, hypocrisy and their obvious reasons for any omissions of things going wrong outwith Scotland, while simultanously relentlessly focusing all of their energy and negativity upon the SNP and Scotland, that it’s now way way way beyond embarrassing and deceitful.
