From the Guardian’s The best UK universities 2025 list – rankings, published today, pro rata, per head, Scotland might be expected to have 2 of the top 20 universities in the UK but has 5.

In 2019*, we had:

From the Complete University Guide 2019, we can see that the overall fall in crime in Scotland in the last ten, or so, years is reflected in the relative safety of university campuses. Of particular interest is the level of crime (incidents per 1 000 residents) reported in Glasgow, lower than that in Edinburgh, less than half the level of England’s safest locations and less than a tenth of the least safe.

  1. Scotland has more uni and colleges than anywhere in the world pro rata. 15 unis 5.4million pop. The highest proportion, pro rata, in the world. 55%, + 7% EU students, + foreign students paying the full costs. The highest educated pop, number proportionately in the world. The next is Canada.

    Plus apprenticeships getting the young into employment, including the neurodiverse. Low unemployment. Scotland would be even better Independent. Instead of Westminster deciding how 40% of revenues are spent and giving Scotland the bill.

    Westminster poor, bad decisions wasting Scottish resources and revenues being spent in the rest of the UK. Scotland paying debt repayments for monies not borrowed or spent in Scotland. £Billions. £Billions lost through Brexit Scotland did not vote for it. £Billions spent on war. A total waste to money. Trident a total waste of monies. Dumped in Scotland, Decommissioning nuclear increasing £Billions. A total waste. Tax evasion supported by Westminster Treasury. Lost £Billions but taking monies form the poorest old and young. Westminster Gov total corruption.
