BBC Business yesterday, reported:
UK [sic] national debt is on course to treble over the next half a century due to several pressures, according to the government’s official forecaster. Those pressures include an ageing population, climate change, and rising geopolitical tensions, the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) said in a report.
Remarkably, the report does not mention the most important reason for the UK’s historical debt going back decades now, since the British Empire could no longer force its manufactured goods onto colonies and extract their raw materials free of charge.
England does have a surplus of around £130 billion in services (insurance and pension services, telecommunications services) but spends far more than its £3.4 billion overall surplus on ‘defence’ and other costs such as nuclear power, transport infrastructure projects and the royal family.
Import more goods than you export, spend more than any overall surplus, and the ‘math’ is simple. You have to borrow to survive.
The current ‘UK’ national debt, not mentioned in the BBC report either, is £2.7 TRILLION with annual interest payments of £102 BILLION.
It’s England’s debt.
Why?
According to the ONS, Scotland has a trade in goods surplus of around £9 billion and, with services, an overall surplus of around £20 billion. The surplus is longstanding, going back centuries. As an independent nation Scotland would add the massive flow of renewables electricity, gas, oil, food and soon, water, to England, to its trade surplus.

Well the BBC loves to inform does it not.
Or rather misinform.
BBC website has this : “National debt forecast to treble over next 50 years”
That’s “National debt” hence why on UK politics page.
It’s currently the tenth story on that page so no biggie then ?
Then the BBC once again do another BBC (trick).
They also put that same story on the Scotland Business page of their website.
But this time it’s placed higher on that Scotland Business page as currently it is the fourth story.
So I then checked the Wales page, Wales Politics page and the Wales Business page for this same story and guess what ?
It was not there.
So Wales, via the BBC, is not being dragged into this negative story connected to the UK government’s debt as that , via the BBC, is only once more , as a tactical position, to be reserved only for Scotland. (As in the BBC’s ‘Go To’ preferred UK national punchbag).
So are we , the readers, supposed to wrongly assume that all “National debt” is applicable to and as a result of the UK government and also Scotland via the Scottish government accumulating debt nationally ?
Or is this another BBC deception where they add an article that is only relevant to the UK via the UK government but they, the BBC, sneakily also add the same article onto a Scotland page (Business page) to give a false impression that our government and Scotland are also to blame for accruing much of that anticipated increase in the “National” debt.
BTW this same article is also currently not on the England page of the BBC website or indeed on their main UK page (which is strange -or probably deliberate by the BBC-as the actual story pertains to the UK “National” debt)
Of course it is not on the UK main page or the England page.
As if.
(It is also currently not on their NI page of the NI politics page of the BBC website).
It really always is, with the BBC, a case of there being ‘No show without the Scottish Punch(bag)’ as in trying to blame, connect to and entangle Scotland as being, via false implication or suggestion, equally as culpable as the UK (government) in what, in this instance, is very very very much only a UK (government) instigated and implemented mess (debt accrued) for their UK.

This is the nub of ”Better Together” – from an English viewpoint !
Without Scotland’s resources they would be ”Too Wee , Too Poor and Too Stupid ” to maintain the pretence of being Special .

Assets £Billions.
£8.7Trillion.
£3Billion+ a year for war. £48Billion for Defence. £30Billion lost to tax evasion. £Billions lost to Brexit. £Billions lost to Hickley Point, HS2, Trident and other wasted projects.
Scotland would be far better off Independent. No paying debts on monies not borrowed or spent in Scotland. Westminster poor, bad decisions. Starving the parents that gave them birth.

Artical 15 of the 1707 act of union stated Scotland would be compensated £400 000 to assist in the repayment of England’s National Debt. As England was in so much debt the first thing they did was put our tax up. We therefore ended up collecting £400 000 of our own money to pay that bribe. This was called the ” Equivalent “. Today we are still covering g England’s debt with their obsession for war and conflict.

UK war debt was paid back to the US in 2006. Fifty years after the end of WW2.
When will the monies owed be paid back to Scotland on Independence. The fuel and energy taken, the illegal debt repayment take. The Brexit £Billions lost. Scotland did not vote for it. The illegal wars and Trident. The Defence costs. 180,000 military personal. 10,000 based in Scotland. Scotland pays £5Billion for it
