Classic case of the BBC Scotland cringe as ‘Phenomenal show’ of solidarity in city’s George Square is presented as ‘angry scenes’ between ‘rivals’

How the Guardian saw yesterday’s events in Glasgow and how most us felt about Scotland’s demonstrable strength against fascism, in sharp contrast to the power of the extreme right in parts of England, Wales and Norther Ireland, but for BBC Scotland, it was this shameful attempt to tell us ‘You’re no different!’:

Such was the scale of the fascist presence, there were only two arrests.

See, also, how BBC Scotland frame the events, from the right, the extreme right to distort the balance:

Note how few police officers. Note which way they face.

These people are not just ‘rivals’ equivalent and worthy of so-called ‘balance’.

Scotland is different – no riots, support for the Reform party half the level in England, support for the Tories half the level in England……..

  1. Seriously, why do the employees of BBC Scotland bother working in Scotland or even wish to live in a beautiful welcoming country that they are so ambitious to denegrade every single day?
Please be critical but positivity and constructivism would be appreciated.

    1. Indeed and no doubt they take free prescriptions, family if studying in Scotland have no tuition fees, they will use the new Forth road bridge, a major arterial route, (given the old bridge was no longer safe for the amount of traffic using it) which if any other party than the SNP had been at helm at Holyrood, would never have been built and they’d be swimming or canoeing across, or taking a verrry long roundabout route to get to the north of the Forth river. I bet they drink Scotland’ clean water as well. A parcel of rogues in a nation, and there are just too many of them!

  2. The BBC , same BBC and other UK media too, who reported that on the day after the 2014 Independence Referendum, where NO had won the vote, there was , they the media alleged , “angry scenes between rival Unionists and independence supporters in Glasgow”.

When clearly it was, as an incident, both instigated and implemented by those thugs who were on the side of the UK who are also referred to as being some of those who are called , by some of us and also it appears the BBC ,“Unionists”.

BBC Headline on 20 September 2014.

“Scottish referendum: More arrests pledged over George Square disorder

“Police investigating trouble between rival Unionists and independence supporters in Glasgow city centre have said there will be further arrests

The BBC just cannot help themselves can they.

As it seems for them , the BBC, there can be no show without us, who support independence or indeed any Scot, being their ‘GO TO’ punchbag for all and any negatives that they, as a pro UK media, can then try to link to or attach upon us .

In fact when there is any friction ,protest, Marches or any unrest or incidents either about to happen or that have happened within Scotland then somehow it must be presented as blame being apportioned as equal upon both sides.

That is our, Scotland’s, reality in the UK that is dominated by their UK media.

Trail by media where we , in Scotland, are always found ‘Guilty’. (or at least partially to blame)

  3. STV described the right wing demonstrators as ‘pro-UK’. That is far worse than the BBC Scotland reporting.

The BBC had to apologise when one of its reporters used the same term to describe EDL racist rioters in Rotherham.

  4. The BBC Scotland article was deliberately framed to invert who had arranged the march and who had demonstrated against what the march was for, which was ‘Pro-UK’ – The BBC’s live unit did feature an interview with Manky Jaiket on the evening news – I’m quite sure the simultaneous ‘Arse’ from Scotland would have been heard on the ISS then the moon, but there again the moon’s impartial…

  5. So, tell me this, ‘Why are people in Scotland so gullibly stupid, yes, stupid to go on accepting this crap and criminal corruption infesting our great wee Country?’

    1. ‘Why are people in Scotland so gullibly stupid ?”

      You have inspired me.

      Gullible or/and selfish ?

Some people against independence know full well what is really going on.

However some are either too afraid, too lazy or too selfish to want to see anything happen (Change) that they think will change things for them personally.

(But yes some are indeed also either too stupid or/and way too complacent to then be content to remain ignorant of what’s (really) what in respect to Scotland and also the UK ).

They , as doubters who live in Scotland are collectively either:

      a) Convinced that things will be worse with Scottish independence (but with many of them having the absolute minimum , if any, knowledge to confirm this as factual)

      Or

      b) They are too lazy to even care enough to establish the truth , via researching it

      Or

Worse they know the truth but prefer to be a Brit than just be a Scot (but state that they are a ‘proud’ Scot , but their actions and words contradict this as a fact)

All of the above continues to be the case while they, as Scottish citizens, have suffered and are still currently suffering because their country, Scotland, is still a part of the UK.

Apparently it seems that you cannot argue with stupid or any of the above types of people .

That is as they , as those who are seemingly impossible to convince about independence, do not want to be presented with knowledge , facts or relevant information as they will argue with anything that you present to them.

Indeed even if you can verify the facts ,as in prove to them, that they , as facts , are true then still many of them will still resist.

As facts and truth , via providing evidence and also good examples, in respect to all (or any) of the very many negatives connected to the UK for Scotland and then the alternate being the many positives , via explaining the true potential and the real possibilities Scotland has in being able to thrive as an independent nation outwith the UK.

      Well

We then venture into this territory in that:

“Stupid is knowing the truth, seeing the truth, but still believing the lies.”

      Also

“”NEVER ARGUE WITH STUPID PEOPLE, THEY WILL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL AND THEN BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.”

So then how long must we pander to those in Scotland who say they have still to be convinced upon independence?

      My lifetime ?

      My Children’s lifetime ?

Or , if/when any come, any of my grandchildren’s lifetime ?

As surely most of these independence doubters, either now or in the future, must eventually be convinced of how bad it is being a part of the UK so then what really is it that is holding them back from agreeing to try and see if an independent Scotland could do better for them , and their children/Grandchildren, as a people of (an independent) country.

(That is an independent country that has many more advantages via it’s many resources, most desirable and easy to trade food & drink products etc etc etc compared to some other countries in the world, who do not have a fraction of what Scotland has yet they manage to survive as independent countries).

Perhaps the kind of ‘Scottish exceptionalism’ that both the UK media and UK politicians really are referring to is where somehow they seem to be declaring Scotland to be unique in being the only country in the world to be incapable of ever being independent .

While that same UK expect Scotland to continue to provide their UK treasury with financial benefits that are sourced from our Scottish resources and also via our very much desired, by others , quality food and drink products being traded with other countries in the world which are then also to the benefit of their UK Treasury.

Perhaps we need more education upon Scotland as a country within our schools .

We also desperately need our own media behaving like a media and not as clients of those political parties opposed to independence and also opposed to those parties and members of the public who support it , independence.

      If only.

    1. The few and far between police on the anti racist side of the demonstration appear to be pretty relaxed as they are very close to the crowd control hurdles, in fact it seems tha they might be having a yarn with the demonstrators.

      1. Well, good community policing does entail trying to establish courteous relationships with the general public, whether the individual member of the public is a decent law-abiding citizen, a numpty, a fascist or someone campaigning for a cause. It is about trying to emphasise our shared humanity. So, if some police officers were having a ‘yarn’ with some of the ‘pro-UK’ (as STV has it) demonstrators, then it might have helped in lowering the temperature.

  6. since we are talking about pests, the ones I’m interested in are insect type, has anyone noticed the absolute dearth of the wee bloggers over the last couple of weeks. Wife and I camping 12 th July, they were everywhere, last W/e almost non existent. Just back from the golf, barely any to be seen, no wasps at all. What’s going on?

No insects, means food shortages for us next year.

    1. Funny you should say that.

I was at a party last night and two people noted that this year they had hardly seen any wasps.

Well I have seen some but not as much as I have normally seen at this time of year.

So either they are coming , in force, later this month and also will be seen in part of October (if the weather ends up being unseasonal as in hot) or we should all worry.

Though I do suspect it is climate related , as our summers (with hardly any hot weather or sun shining) are very much being replaced by bouts of flash flooding and consistent rubbish weather during the supposed summer months.

I really hate Wasps but as you say shortages of (any) insects is serious and the impact is a shortage in food.
