Scotsman headlines made more truthy and less dishonest

How the Wilson-Dalgety axis headlines, above right, should read in a more truthy world

The nonsense they currently publish to maintain their plummeting sales trend, to now less than 10 000 per day.

The Tory crisis headline will do.

  1. Wee Brian, a British and Irish nationalist Ultra, and Director of the Scottish Coal Company, which as a “real business” went bust leaving huge dereliction across the old coalfields of Scotland costing £150 million to put right (but not by Wilson).

He also forgets if the UK was a business it would have been bust decades ago as it

A.-could not print its own money

B.-could not have borrowed the £3 trillion it now owes.

  2. Just as in olden times Newspapers likely feared TV would interfere with their monoply on ‘news’ coverage it is fascinating now that TV is using every opportunity to condemn Social media for doing the very same thing undermining their ability to sway public opinion. In Scotland we are of course subject to the very worst excesses of false English media coverage so its thanks to TUS and others that we at least have a more balanced view of life here. So keep it going folks to preserve our sanity.

    1. Indeed the ‘main stream media’, so called, doesn’t like social media at all because it counters the lies and propaganda they put out. Yes SM is also a bit toxic but you can block and unlike things.

  3. Westminster spends £13Billion a year decommissioning Nuclear. £130Billion over ten years. Ever increasing. Rotting contaminated hulks at Rosyth. £270Billion was spent over two years funding Covid. Much of it was wasted on non scrutinised Gov contracts. Into the pockets of Tories and their associates.Scotland pays more for fuel and energy, despite being in surplus and nearer the source.

£50Billion a year is spent funding debt not borrowed or spent in Scotland. Scotland has to make the repayments. £Billions waste on projects. Over budget and time. Hickley Point & HS2 etc. Westminster controls 40% of Scotland revenues which could be better spent. Brexit losing £Billions. Illegal wars funded death and destruction.

Westminster attacking the most vulnerable. Their mothers that gave them birth and children most in need. Giving rises to the weathier. Tax evasion rife. The tax Laws not enforced. The Scottish Gov cannot be held responsible for people, who support Independence, not voting or voting unionist. They need to vote in a higher turnout.

    1. Well said. Just a wee correction, Scotland IS the source of fuel and energy.
Also Scotland is still forced to pay £billions in debt to private companies due to the UKENG Labour party PFI scheme (scam) in Scotland.

  4. The inclusion of two long term haters of all things SNP, Brian Wilson & Susan Dalgetty, in their newspaper speaks volumes as to their agenda as a newspaper.

Both of these columnists have former political links connected to the Labour party and so their inclusion, as columnists in The Scotsman, is so very obvious as they often contribute what is expected by this newspaper .

Which as contributions mostly consists of both of them highlighting how terrible Scotland is and also how it’s all the SNP’s fault.

Does any reader of their newspaper ,who is aware of both Wilson’s & Dalgetty’s political links to the Labour party, then think as readers, that their opinions as columnists are without any bias, are totally non partisan and thus ultimately not driven by a desire to see the SNP lose more seats in both Holyrood and WM, see the SNP ousted as the Scottish government and be replaced by the Labour party and also both are desperate to try and stop independence for Scotland ever happening.

If you ever (have the misfortune to) read a succession of Brian Wilson columns in The Scotsman you would be tempted to think that he should consider ‘Changing the record’. His anti SNP obsession sees him constantly target the SNP who he insists are, as a government, those totally responsible for all of the ills that he states exist in Scotland. So that is a common theme that often dominates most of the columns he writes in The Scotsman. Big Yawn.

The fact that Scotland is not an independent country is ,for for both of these columnists , not worthy as a crucial fact for either of them mentioning or emphasising in their many written critiques of our government and our country.

Therefore the fact that the SNP, as a government , do not have all powers and monies to run Scotland as an independent country , well that hugely significant factor is conveniently and deliberately ignored in both Wilson’s (and Dalgetty’s) columns.

As that would then totally destroy most of their arguments that they try (and fail) to make against both the SNP and also against Scotland as a country, where as a country, we are crippled and severely limited by us being a part of their UK. (something else both of them choose to ignore).

The same UK that is controlled by a UK government who restricts, imposes and prevents so much good and positive being done by our Scottish government and also while they , as a UK government, steal the resources sourced from our country that as resources, would be more than sufficient to sustain our country, Scotland, as a thriving independent country in the World.

Dalgetty left the Labour party as a member because of Jeremy Corbyn , then upon him being ousted as their leader , she then re-joined them so that she could “be in time to vote for Starmer as the new leader” (her own words in an open letter she wrote to Keir Starmer in 2021) she did this even though she is opposed to Keir Starmer’s position on what she sees as her campaigning for “Women’s sex based rights”.

In that open letter in 2021 that she wrote to Keir Starmer where she also stated that “she was not ready to give up her membership (of the Labour party) again” but apparently she was still passionate about continuing the fight for women under the campaign “Wheesht for women” which she accused him of not supporting via his, and the Labour party’s , position on this.

So proving then that her strong passion for this cause on women’s rights does not extend to her ‘giving up her Labour party membership’ which surely would send more of a strong message to Starmer than just her writing an ‘open’ letter to him in 2021 stating how disappointed she was in him.

Wilson and Dalgetty adopting Labour in Scotland’s constant position of PARTY before COUNTRY (as in Scotland )

Or in Dalgetty’s case we also have PARTY before PRINCIPLES.

As to The Scotsman well they will welcome anyone as a columnist in their newspaper who is prepared to adopt the same type of anti SNP and anti independence position as some of their current columnists like say Wilson and Dalgetty.

  5. Very surprised their sales are 10,000, presumably political affiliates of the clients who commissioned their twaddle…

As interesting aside to the Ross headline, I looked at HMS James Cook’s take on it this morning, an 18 hour old article titled ” Scottish Tory deputy leader quits in leadership contest row ” but was surprised to note the archive was 19 hours old titled ” Scottish Tory leadership candidates question fairness of vote “

What was not a surprise was the very different tone of reporting by BBC Scotland compared to elsewhere, it was all “serious questions” etc., admitting that 4 of the 6 candidates had signed a statement complaining of Ross’s skulduggery, but ending with probably the dumbest attempt at journalism yet with “BBC Scotland understands that Russell Findlay was not asked to sign the statement” – Really ? Whoda thunk it…

The ‘stating the bleeding obvious’ phrase in the original has now has been appended with ‘Analysis by David Wallace Lockhart Political correspondent, BBC Scotland’ ending with ‘But right now it feels like the first job of the winner will be to deal with internal disquiet. No easy task in itself.’

    Disquiet ? FFS…..

  6. I wonder if Brian and Susan use the new Forth road bridge, and do they take free prescriptions? Might any of their family study at university in Scotland, not being landed with phenomenal debt due to their hated SNP not burdening them with it. I bet they take every measure made in progress for Scotland that their hated SNP for granted.
I would say get yourself a wee boat if crossing the Forth, because it was the Labour party and all other parties operating in Scotland that voted against the bridge being built, why woudl you use that essential infrastructure when you were 100% against it, just swim across then.
