BBC UK, England etc are ignoring this story, headlining for BBC Scotland. I guess the flow of resources from colonies is too normal to be news?
To be fair, when you read on, you do see this kind of thing, 5 paras down in the BBC Scotland report:
Although the link can carry electricity in both direction, the majority is expected to flow out of Scotland.
The majority? What, like 51%, 60%, 90%?

Net electricity transfers from Scotland to England increased 15 per cent to 6.0 TWh year-on-year, with transfers from Scotland to England increasing by 14 per cent to 6.1 TWh while transfers from England to Scotland decreased to 0.1 TWh. 27 Jun 2024:

Ah, but, this is poolin an sharin in practice jist like Bodger Broon tells us. It is part of the ‘the union dividend’ because we are better together. The electricity hus tae be sent tae England because us Scots urnae genetically programmed to run things like this fur wursels.

cost currently in excess of £3.5 billion. As a “union project of the Westminster English govt” Scotland will no doubt be charged 10% or more if they can pauchle the books again. We get heehaw n bawbees that are cast to the colony.

Aye, the promo written by Kevin Keane, BBC Scotland’s environment correspondent, still resorts to the usual bullshit of ” SSEN Transmission says the energy transfer project is needed to move energy around the grid on days when the wind doesn’t blow or demand is high” – Is Kevin aware of a single instance of ” the wind doesn’t blow ” being recorded in the extensive annuls of naval history going back at least 900 years ?
Is this the 3rd or 4th HVDC being installed to Scotland because of lack of investment in this mysterious grid which exists somewhere in England ?

I remember when that that “tory saint” alias Maggie Thatcher put in place the interconnector between England and France she and her ministers beefed up the case by stressing the fact that the flow of electricity could be two-way but in reality since the start of that interconnectors working life the only time that electricity has flowed to France has been when the safety and operational checks are carried out.
This is exactly what will happen with the link between Scotland and England with one big difference and that is that France is getting paid for exporting electricity to England, whereas Scotland will be getting paid ZERO for sending electricity “dann sarth” – robbed again!!

The Oil and Gas pipeline should have been established and terminated at Peterhead . Thatcher tried to get it South. The Oil companies had to pay for it at great expense. It eventually terminated near Edinburgh. That’s how far it got. Oil & Gas revenues were secretly and illegally taken from Scotland. To fund London S/E. Thatcher funded Canary Wharf ( bankers) and Tilbury docks 26 miles of container facilities. Shut all the ports around the UK. Lost revenues and jobs. Closed all the manufacturing facilities in Scotland. Fought with the miners. Destroying industry in Scotland creating hardship. The result poverty and illness.
responsibility in Scotland was 15%. NI 20% unemployment. The troubles caused by the Westminster Gov. The only place unemployment was under 10% was London S/E. Thatcher funded the bankers who fund the Tory Party. Leading to the banking crash. Thatcher/Reagan reduced leverage and collateral from 25% reserves to 13%, worldwide. Leading to the banking crash. Thatcher demutualised the Building Societies owned by the members. The Banks took over the mortgage books and gambled the revenues on the stock exchange.
Thatcher sold off utilities. Now owned by tax evading foreign companies and US multinationals. Thatcher gave the Press over to the right wing. Illegally gave control to Murdoch et al. Tax evading criminals, non Doms. Without a free and fair Press there is no democracy. Another Westminster responsibility and failure. Leveson recommendation not enforced. UK tax Laws not endorsed. Thatcher established tax havens.
