UK Labour to delay 40 new hospitals while SNP delay only 2 – half as many pro rata

Patient safety put ‘at risk’ by crumbling NHS hospitals in desperate need of repair – ITV February 22, 2023

In February 2024, the Scottish Government put on hold new hospitals for Airdrie and Fort William, after major cuts to the funds returned to Scotland by the Treasury, despite soaring whisky, food, oil and gas revenues.

A BBC Scotland report at the time, did not mention the cuts until the last 2 of 45 paragraphs but did manage to platform ‘practising GP (sic or sick))’ Dr Sandesh Gulhane MSP (Con) and Dr Iain Kennedy of the BMA Scottish branch, earlier.

Today, the Guardian tells us that 40 planned new hospitals, badly needed for the crumbling NHS England estate, are to to be delayed after, of course, already being delayed for years by the Cons. Unnamed Tories have criticised these delays in the Guardian but BBC UK, England and Health do not mention the story at all.

  1. This is just the beginning of Labour’s turbo charged austerity, starting at the bare roots of the earnings tree hitting the kids first then the pensioners.

A lot of murky water will flow past Westminster before they get around to pruning in the branches that are home to bankers on unlimited bonuses.

  2.  ‘practising GP (sic or sick)’

    Practising?!

    I don’t want a doctor who’s practising.

I want one who knows what they’re doing!

Maybe if he spent less time in front various cameras spouting, at very best, rubbish he would know…
