CalMac, the best ferry service in the world and Steven Camley the third-best cartoonist at the Herald

It’s a sad state of affairs that the above pub-level banality passes for political satire at the Herald.

To waste more time on his output considered, see: https://talkingupscotlandtwo.com/?s=Camley

On ferries, here’s why his infantile pokes are not so much below the belt as below the average IQ, see:

  1. jeez, these guys want to read about Ferries in England. Another hold up for the Atlantic Wolf’s maiden voyage. Scilly Isles and Isle of Wight could only dream of having Cal-Mac serve them.

  2. It won’t come as any great surprise, at least to regular readers here, that in the wake of delays to the Ferries the BBC Scot is running a spin off propaganda programme ‘Island crossings’ and even less surprising we learn of continuing delays/sailing disruptions and the damaging effect this having on communities namely Arran. It is almost a tradition within the organisation now that whilst the SNP is in power our National broadcaster wants to portray Scotland in the worst possible light.

Compare that to the many contrasting programmes across the wider network of life in the south promoting a range of positivity that despite Government failings it is hard to believe life in England & Wales is anything other than a wondrous paradise. Is it any wonder then that many Scots feel their country is going to the dogs given the constant negative reporting that is inflicted on us daily. Positive or good news is very often if not exclusively from ‘non Government’ sources.

Against that background and as I have voiced many times now that instead of attacking opposition Parties the SNP need to focus their energies instead in countering this negativity in the media. After all I doubt very much if large swathes of the electorate are influenced greatly by Sarwar etc. For many of us ‘oldies’ we can hark back to the Rupert Murdoch era when he boasted his media stranglehold dictated who was going to be elected at Westminster.

IN SHORT THE SNP NEED TO GET THE FINGER OUT QUICKLY BUT I’M NOT SURE IF THE SWINNEY/FORBES DOUBLE ACT IS RUTHLESS ENOUGH TO TAKE THIS ON.
