The Herald today has a scare story about Glasgow Royal but with, of course, little informative value.
First, from the Westminster (UK Parliament) Health Committee, in January 2022:
The Scottish Patient Safety Programme (SPSP), introduced by the SNP Scottish Government in 2007, has been praised by a leading European expert on patient safety.
In Westminster’s Health Committee, Dr Pelle Gustafson, CMO at Swedish Patient Insurer, responded with “Scotland”, when he was asked which country he would hold at the very top pillar with regards to patient safety.Dr Gustfason said: “If you take all preventative work in regard to patient safety, I would say Scotland, I am personally very impressed with Scotland. I think in Scotland you have a long tradition of working, you have a development in the right direction and you also have a system which is fairly equal all over the place. You have improvement activities going on. So I am very impressed by Scotland”.

Second, in May 2024, 10% of patients attending A&E in England spent 12 hours or longer there = 145,094 patients (statement issued on 13 June)
In April 2024, 5.7% of patients attending A&E in Scotland spent 12 hours or more there = 6,412 patients (statement issued on 4 June).
Third, in the annual Hospital Standardised Mortality Ratio survey for 2022/2023, Glasgow Royal Infirmary’s ratio was well within the red control limits, as was every Scottish hospital and within the inner orange warning limits, unlike three other Scottish hospitals.
More than 50 English hospitals have worse mortality ratios than those three.

Looks like NHS is getting more money. It certainly needs it. Cut under the Tories.
