  1. But during the Brexit referendum period the only marine industry voices heard were those of the Protestant Boys of what was then called The Scottish Fishermen’s Federation which comprised a very small group (less than 50) pretty wealthy owners of ocean-going trawlers. They were presented by the BBC and others as the authoritative voice of the marine industry in Scotland. Other groups such as the fish processors, and inshore fishing organisations, for example were never mentioned. They group was raucously pro Brexit.

Baroness Colonel Davidson was a great fan of them despite her alleged anti Brexit stance. The members were Tories and based in the north east. They had significant clout in that area. In the Brexit referendum Moray had the largest LEAVE vote in Scotland, but not the majority, although there were only 100 or so votes in it. However, the media have transformed this ‘close result’ into a ‘likely LEAVE majority’ then into a ‘LEAVE majority’, which PROVES Scotland was not the solid (62%) pro European majority ‘alleged by Remainers.’

    1. There appears to be a marked difference between the East Coast fishermen in Scotland who voted to leave the EU and the West Coast fishermen who voted to stay in the EU.
