Is this the Labour candidate who leads the union that conveniently covered Sarwar’s poverty wages shame at the last minute?

Fresh start? Not change? That’s clever.

From BBC Scotland today:

But late on Sunday evening an Usdaw spokesman issued a clarification, saying: “Usdaw has a trade union recognition agreement with United Wholesale Scotland and we negotiate on pay with the company.

“In our last negotiation we agreed a pay deal that delivered an income higher than the real living wage for all employees.”

The spokesman went on to say: “We would urge political parties to get their own house in order.”

Usdaw:

Get their own houses in order? That’s a very partisan, political thing for local shop steward to be saying, isn’t it?

Have we heard the last from the workers there?

Is Gilbert still demanding abolition of the benefits cap and two-child limit contrary to Starmer’s no-change edict?

  1. Another Labour Union Apparatchik in Scottish (sic) Labour clothing ? Do her Union members agree with her stance on Sarwar’s Wee Little Earner business ( for his family – NOT for him ! Aye , Right ! )

Does she take the same supportive attitude to all businesses where her members are working ? Shop workers , in particular , have been poorly represented for decades by their Union . Is it any wonder with boss -supporting Union Officials like this !

    1. Yep and no such political party that call themselves ‘Scottish Labour’ exists they can’t use the word ‘party’. The unions back Sarwar even though his company pays poverty wages.

Indeed….. but that is how things have always been and will always be with certain Trade Unions in Scotland……..where they participate in ‘playing politics’ on behalf of the Labour party with the sole intention of trying to damage the SNP……

However based on how Sir Keir Starmer has been acting and what he has been saying that he intends to do if his party are indeed elected as the next UK government, I would have thought that any honest and ‘only dedicated to the workers‘ Union representative, would have surely determined by now that Labour ain’t gonna be that different from the Tory party in their approach to workers rights especially agreeing that workers deserve an increase to their wages to offset the high cost of living in the UK…….as they, workers, also have the right to strike if their needs and wants are not met by a new Labour UK government……and we all know how Sir Keir Starmer feels about strikes especially his shadow ministers standing on picket lines with (and in support of) striking workers….as in it is a NO go as an action that he would endorse or encourage…..as it might upset the Employers (where he hopes some of these Employers will start to support his party and also perhaps make a donation to his party’s coffers)

It is going to be very interesting and informative to see how things play out via a UK Labour Govt with Trade Unions and also with workers as far as workers rights, as in their needs and wants are handled, in the future post the next GE…….so will the workers needs be met by the Labour UK Govt. and if not then what action/reaction can we expect to see from Trade Unions as in what action they decide to take on behalf of the workers ……….as opposed to what we often witness via them, as Trade Unions, tactically acting on behalf of the Labour party especially here in scotland..…and thus against the Scottish government or any SNP council !

Q’s Q’s……just wait until the ball is in Labour’s court as the potential new UK government then we will see what’s what……as the pressure will be on them….not the SNP…as you cannot ask to be elected on the basis that you will ensure “Change” and a “Fresh start” and then when elected you adhere to the same old same old as the previous government……so they, Labour, will, as the next UK government, need to very much put their money where their current (big) mouth is…..”no ifs ands or buts” (to quote Sarwar LOL)……’Chickens come home to roost’ springs to mind….LOL

Popcorn supply going forward…. post July 4th……

  4. in 2014 Usdaw was one of the very few trade unions to come out against Scottish independence. New Tory pet, the GMB did likewise and likewise thought it too tiresome to ask their members. Peerages were no doubt expected. Less expected were the mass resignations of Scottish members which followed.

I’d love to know when those Usdaw negotiations took place.
