Paisley – City of Dreaming Spires for C2DE’s?
Back in the day, I had an awful experience – management in a ‘new’ university.
We had a dilemma. Nearly all of our income came from the Scottish Government, explicitly for teaching students but, at the same time, we were under pressure to get research published, to be a ‘real’ Uni, but struggled to get funding to to that because we had little previous experience or track record.
So, we quietly moved quite a lot of the money from the teaching budget into research budgets, to ‘prime the pump‘ you might say.
Where you move public funds from one budget to another, sometimes contrary to what funders want you to do, it’s not called embezzlement. It’s called viring. One of the consequences was worse staff/student ratios and less salubrious surroundings than the ancient richer Unis have, then finding ourselves near the bottom of the student satisfaction tables.
But, it wasn’t a crime. There were no police raids, no tents on the Principal’s lawn.
Senior staff did far worse – one took his Malay bride to Mauritius to ‘recruit students‘. From Mauritius to Paisley? In winter? We’d have needed to buy the Coatbridge Time Capsule as a campus just for them.
So, imagine.
The Chief Exec of a strapped political party, with no rich donors, finds they’re in danger of having to sack staff or default on energy bills.
He vires some money, given to the party, by its own members for a special project, into these other budgets, to save the party. Immoral? Some members protest. A non-member calls in the police and before you know it there’s a tent on his lawn and his wife’s personals are being gone through.
I could be wrong about a comparable current case and will admit so profusely if I am.

It must surely be a coincidence, that beats all the other coincidences in a certain case so far, that a major announcement occurred on the same day as the announcement of the general election.

My exact thoughts “what a coincidence that ..”!
“A wild guess” would seem logical that it will take them until on/around/but not prior to .. 5 July, to reach a decision.
Upon Independence, an INDUSTRIAL CLEANSING must take place, of every vestige of and where English Colonial claws infest Scotland.

Funnily enough I “vired” some of my accumulated year points for a Degree in a subject I needed at Paisley Uni.
If only my family knew of my criminal activity. I have my own blue tent, so maybe they will go easy on me.
And “yes”, the timing of this embezzlement charge is no coincidence at all. No doubt a few nice Honours will be in the pipeline.

2 Weeks before election in the polls the SNP are doing really well all of a sudden the Crown Office comes out and charges Mr Murrell and with association the SNP and the BBC Scotland goes into overdrive along with MSM to condemn all us extremists of lying to get Lab off the hook Yoons and co shouting for Murrell to be sent to prison for a long time.
Rant over but will wait and see if something like that does not happen.

The Brit state don’t play nice when it comes to the last of their colonies. You would think most people can see through the tactics and trial by media, what did people do before the internet. I suppose they just had very little information and facts at their finger tips, so were much easier to manipulate and brainwash?
Interesting John, I’d never heard of ‘viring’…

It’s an accounting term, legalese for transfer. If that’s the game I look forward to PS chasing all these individuals, companies and banks transferring funds out of Scotland and the UK to avoid tax.
