From BBC Scotland South this morning:
Nursery closures ‘punishment’ for choosing rural life – Parents in the Borders claim they are being punished for choosing country living after their local nurseries were earmarked for closure. Scottish Borders Council announced at Easter that early years centres in Westruther and Fountainhall would close this summer.
There’s not a mention of the Council being Conservative & Unionist nor of their Conservative & Unionist MP not their Conservative & Unionist MSP, fighting to keep the nursery open.
There is, of course, no context, no news on the wider context of childcare in the UK, such as this from the Child Poverty Action Group in 2023:
In the UK overall, it costs at least £166,000 to bring up a child at an acceptable standard of living. In Scotland, family incomes are boosted by a combination of universal and means-tested Scottish government policies, while costs are often lower due to cheaper than average childcare. The combined value of these factors can reduce the net cost to low-income families of bringing up a child by over a third.

‘The Devil is in the detail’….however the Devils in the BBC prefer that we do not know all of the ‘Detail’ when it comes to any negative news that has any connection to any Pro UK political party……..so they, the BBC, omit that detail.
However when it comes to the SNP etc etc etc
Scotland is very very poorly served as both viewers and listeners to the BBC in their news output…..they , the BBC, are very (pro)active in being a rogue element in the media that we in Scotland are subjected to……and STV seem to be following their, BBC’s, bad example in duplicating this same behaviour……
I think we all know who the media in Scotland serve…..and it sure as H is not the people who live here…..that is blatantly obvious……once the majority of people in Scotland become more aware of that as a fact, then and only then, will the media lose their influence in trying to gaslight us all with their fake modified news…..which as news is subjected to multiple redactions and editing dependent on who, they as a media, decide these omission can either damage or benefit politically….
And I think we know that in Scotland….. who get’s what treatment and why via the ‘British’ media……

When it comes to BBC (in Scotland), the only context they know of is a SMS message you get that tries to obtain money under false pretence.
I’ll get my coat….

Way O/T: I‘ve just received the latest newsletter from the estimable Edinburgh-based publisher, Luath Press. It informs me of the programme of events planned for its annual ‘ScotlandsFest’, held as part of the Edinburgh Fringe. And an excellent programme it is offering too!
This sentence from caught my attention: ‘For being such a small nation, Scotland can contain so many ideas of what it can be. ‘
Is Scotland ‘such a small nation’? Of the c. 197 independent nation states across the world which have membership of the UN, c. 81 have populations smaller than Scotland’s c. 5.5 million!
This ‘such a small nation’ notion may foster what IMHO is an ‘unfortunate’ mindset and one not justified by the facts!

Tory MSP ‘Stephen ‘flying teeth’ Kerr tweeted this today:
“I submitted a question to the First Minister on SNP-led Falkirk Council’s plans to cut the school week to cut costs. The last thing our children and young people need is a cut to their education. My question wasn’t selected. I will keep trying”…..
Aye that’s right Flying Teeth….keep targeting SNP councils while ignoring the Conservative Borders council closing Nurseries…..and as for you “submitting a Q”……
Naw Ye Didnae…..you carp from the sidelines to try and stir S*** (rhymes with PIT) up as is your, and your Tory colleagues, main job at Holyrood….to deflect attention away from your other Tory HQ colleagues at WM……and the “last thing children & young people need” is the likes of you pretending you care what happens to their education…..as to you stating ” I will keep trying”….I am sure that you will as that’s what you always pretend to be doing….but not for the right reasons….
You say you “keep trying” while reality is that many others find you “very trying” as a politician….perhaps also “trying” too hard to be relevant when it’s plain to see that you are one of the Tories who could be defined as one within the category of those Tories that we classify as being “Extremists”………….
Another ***** (rhymes with Granny)
