For Scotland, just an additional propaganda source

I have stated many a time on here that the introduction of specific right wing rogue news channels being granted a licence to broadcast in the UK, was for Scotland, just an additional propaganda source….and thus surplus to requirement.

The MSM, via televised news within Scotland, were already, as a media, ones that continually stated exactly the very same points, same adopted language and also opposition against independence and too against the SNP as a political party…..which these new rogue news channels have also been promoting on both of their channels via their presenters and guests.

We also saw and still see the BBC political debate programme Question Time welcome , and thus obviously endorsing , right wing individuals within their panel that they invited onto the programme to opine upon politics within the UK…..many of these same individuals now have careers as presenters on both GB News & Talk TV and are still welcome as panel members on BBC QT ….

We may often blame solely politicians for all of the mess that their UK finds itself in since the Brexit vote but we also need to source much of the blame to the MSM as well who, as a media, have been very much complicit in supporting, endorsing and attempting to brainwash the gullible among us to support bad policies and adopt the same offensive rhetoric that opposes those, who the establishment within the UK, deem to be the supposed undesirables and thus the supposed source of all ills within their UK…..thus giving the UK government a free pass on taking any responsibility and accountability for the mess they have caused within their UK.

Talk TV , owned by Rupert Murdoch, is shutting down this year from broadcasting and will only be accessed via streaming….due to financial losses.

GB News who have been reported as also suffering financial losses are currently implementing a redundancy exercise….though one only has to see who within their channel ,as a presenter , are the ones who are making a large profit via a (second) salary while simultanously sitting as a Tory MP…..to then think that surely savings could and should be made there with these high earners as opposed to ‘ordinary’ workers……

Brexit IMO has destroyed the Tory party…..and if Labour intends to adopt it then it will also destroy them…..while MSM ignores the negative impacts of Brexit and pre the Brexit vote in 2016 they, as a media, chose to (over) platform Brexiteer politicians and individuals to sway public opinion to support it and vote for it…..now that same MSM ignores the many negative consequences of Brexit while the new rogue channels herald supposed wins via Brexit, which as a supposed wins , amounts to Jack **** (rhymes with SPIT) in significance for the ordinary man and woman in the street…….but for those with money sees them reap more financial gains to be had via the fallout…..while deregulation sees some of us suffer others, more privileged, reap the benefits to be had for their own business interests…..minus EU membership rules and regulations that would have formerly prohibited their taking advantage as they don now via the Tories ‘taking back control’ for the wealthy among us to flourish….

“Spitting out lies”….is indeed not just the preferred method of new rogue news channels, as we in Scotland , have been and still are subjected to this type of behaviour and output via many British media news outlets in Scotland (and elsewhere in the UK too)…..indeed if any time was right then it is ‘Now is the time’ someone in politics or the media decided to start ‘Spitting out Truths’.…..especially via the biggest lie being repeated by their media……….. as in that Scotland was too wee and too poor to be independent…..as a lie that they, the media, promote on behalf of those politicians from political parties who are supportive of the UK remaining a state that still includes Scotland.

That would set a ‘Cat among the pigeons’…..as in some Home Truths…..and also with a new independent Scotland how would England ‘Keep the wolf away from the door’….something else the media never reflect upon as the assumption is supposed to be that they, England, subsidise other nations within the UK…..while this supposed huge expense that England has, as a financial burden, is via what….charity, benevolence, sacrifice, sentimental or is it that perhaps the wealth they retain is sourced from other places than England within their UK and thus like Brexit is a subject to Omerta being widely applied….for reasons all too obvious.

If you want the REAL news then go onto trusted sites on social media….as without social media you would never ever get to hear the news where you are or where anyone else is in their UK either….via either MSM and also certainly not on the rogue new so called ‘News’ channels…..as you will only hear what they both want you to hear and read about ( as in what they dictate is news) and also only allow you to hear and read about what they promote as important (but in the grand scheme of all things important only actually really equates to amounting to Jack **** (rhymes with SPIT) in significance and impact for ordinary people and their lives….and that is not news at all that is just propaganda all done to hide the real news ……that is…in the UK preferred method of communicating their versions of the news every day in their UK….same one that unites in proclaiming #SNPBAD…..Yawn…..but also forever WFT.

  1. To be quite honest do we really have any pro SNP Indy supporters in the media or print I know sum seem to pretend they do but I have my doubts to me I rely on this site with Prof John at the helm to be true Indy supporter.

People are selfish , that is the natural state of the human being , you will sometimes see people not being selfish but they are nearly always in comfort without poverty at their heels or they have nothing useful to offer anyone else Its easier to give when you have spare.Tax evasion is rife cheating is rife , nepotism too .The masses will pop an item or two in the basket for foodbanks or give a few coins to a beggar but there is no real sacrifice by them for others.People pay monthly direct debits to charities for dogs for cats for a varied number of animals but not so much for people.Scottish independence ? the poor are too busy trying to live feed amd keep warm you wont find any poor people in the list of bloggers for Scottish independence they dont have the time and energy for that.The well off and middle classes in Scotland sit quietly at home many dont vote even more wont vote now that Labour and Tory are the same but they wont vote SNP ALBA or ISP either because to them better the evil provider of safety which includes high interest rates and tax beaks for the rich than a fairer society that might mean the middle classes have to pay more , they just dont want to know they dont follow politics show disinterest if consulted and scorn if pushed for an opinion.Every single MP and MSP for Scotland is a gravy train passenger they are initially shocked at the lavish lifestyle it provides but shocked even more at the thought of losing it so they become neutral passengers on the Scottish independence gravy train.

As you have alluded to with news paper sales on an ever downward spiral and with it their dwindling political influence.  Unionist propagandists are also aware that ordinary punters are turning their backs on the likes of GBNews/Talk TV and their perceived RW ‘extremist’ output turning instead their attention more and more to Social media as their prime medium of propaganda. There are currently half a dozen that I can name that are now regularly turning out there anti-SNP tripe and I’m surprised that this threat does not appear to be taking seriously by the Indy movement. We really have to get our act together to combat this relentless drivel.

  5. O/T The Scotland section of the BBC News website has from time to time provided ‘good news’ stories about local initiatives in rural Scotland. You know the kind of projects – the ones that have received Levelling Up funding from the Westminster government. 

    As an example, back in 25 October 2023, the BBC News website made much of a local project under the headline ‘Proposals for new Moray bridge take a step forward’. This was about repairing the Cloddach Bridge in the constituency of Douglas Ross MP/MSP. The BBC told us : ‘Mr Ross said in March he had directly lobbied the chancellor ahead of the Budget to see if the UK government could provide funding assistance.

    ‘Even the role of the Chancellor was profiled: ‘Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced £320m for public spending in Scotland in the next financial year, including for the bridge subject to a business case being developed for the repairs, to the “delight” of Mr Ross.’

    So lots of information and emphasis on attribution here regarding the source of enabling funds.

    There is a positive local news story from rural Scotland covered in the BBC News website today (20 April) under the headline: ‘Old school overhaul gives village new buzz’. From Thornhill in Dumfries & Galloway we learn: ‘A former school in southern Scotland is reopening its doors after a multi-million pound transformation.’  – the Old School Thornhill (OST)

    The BBC informs readers that: ‘Funding was secured from a range of groups to buy it from Buccleuch Estates and also to redevelop it.’ (my emphasis)

    Who I wondered does the BBC omit to mention when its journalist writes: ‘Funding was secured from a range of groups’? We can find out from https://www.oldschoolthornhill.com 

    ‘“In 2017 we came together with an idea to buy and transform our ‘Old School’ into an innovative, design-led, community asset – a space that would foster creative collaboration and benefit our village and the surrounding communities.  We had an enthusiastic response and it’s been exciting to see that initial idea grow and develop into a strong business model through our consultation.” £2.5 million has been raised for the project.

    November 2017:  the Scottish Government’s Scottish Land Fund awarded The Thornhill Collective £20,000 to support work to complete its Business Plan, Feasibility Study, Building Condition Survey and initial Architectural Drawings.

    Additional funding was also awarded by the Architectural Heritage Fund (£5,000) and Thornhill Community Council (£2,000). AHF grants are made possible by funding from the public body Historic Environment Scotland and the William Grant Foundation

    September 2018 – over £144,000 awarded again by The Scottish Land Fund to buy OST and fund initial revenue costs.

    2020 / 2021:  awarded £1.1 million from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF) via Dumfries and Galloway Council. RCGF is a Scottish Government grants programme delivered in partnership with COSLA and local government. The Fund supports locally developed place based regeneration projects that involve local communities, helping to tackle inequalities and deliver inclusive growth in deprived, disadvantaged and fragile remote communities across Scotland.

    2022 / 2023 – Awarded £400,000 from South of Scotland Enterprise (SoSE). SoSE is funded by the Scottish Government. 

    To recap, how did the BBC Scotland journalist report the enabling funding in this ‘good news’ story from Dumfries & Galloway ‘‘Funding was secured from a range of groups’!

    1. I’d noted the “glossing over” on funding on this project, so well done for digging into it and highlighting the contrast.

      Many of these sandstone buildings survive in D&G (demolition prevented by listed status), so it was good to read of Thornhill’s success in the refurbishment and purposing of the place.

      The back story to Closeburn, Thornhill and ‘Wallace Hall Primary’ is quite well written up on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_Hall_(Thornhill) albeit in need of update to reflect completion of the OST project.
