Not being fully informed and up to date on what New New Labour really are

Torygraph today reported “Six Tory advisers have now deserted Rishi Sunak for Keir Starmer”

Saw this tweet online as in a reaction to this news re the Labour party:

“So they’ve got Tory advisors, policies, and even defector MPs. At what point do they just become the Tories”.

“become the Tories”…that ship sailed a long time ago surely ?

And this comes on the back of Starmer being asked “if he was a Tory in disguise”

“In disguise”….hardly….blatantly obvious and ‘out in the open’ more like….

Labour MP & Shadow Cabinet member David Lammy described TORY ex PM Margaret Thatcher as “visionary”…..Oh aye what a “visionary” she was alas her ‘visions’ did much to destroy the Industries that employed workers in her UK that then decimated those respective areas…..and same kind of workers that Starmer now says (pretends) that his party, Labour, represents…… as in Labour being the “party for working people” (while he, Starmer, is wooing former Tory donors and business leaders to his Labour party)….indeed Starmer himself praised Thatcher….in stating “Margaret Thatcher sought to drag Britain out of its stupor by setting loose our natural entrepreneurialism,”……and she also used Scotland as a UK Guinea pig for the infamous Poll tax……so what’s to admire about her or indeed ever praise her for anywhere in the UK…… apart from those parts that greatly benefitted from her Tory premiership as in the parts (London & South east) that needed no more help?

The signs are all there….the media in Scotland are desperate to “disguise” this fact as they are way too focused on shielding Sarwar from his HQ’s ‘leader’s’ questionable rhetoric and planned (not so) new policies (to include keeping some of the previous Tory policies and actions alive and kicking)…….and God forbid they, the media here , will highlight ,as in over emphasise, (or even mention) the fact that Labour are a Pro Brexit party………same Brexit Scotland, via all regions in Scotland, voted against.

I wonder if this Labour party and their , so called (media hoped for ) resurgence in Scotland, will include voters here being fully informed and up to date on what New New Labour really are and represent as a political party….as in not finding the actual current state of play re New New Labour in the ‘news’ where they (supposedly) are…….I fail to see how Scotland, regarded in the UK as more socialist inclined, would not have made a Labour resurgence for them, Labour, under the Corbyn leadership yet we are expected to believe that under a Starmer led Labour leadership that somehow Scotland will embrace and welcome a pound shop Tory party aka the Labour party with a Tory carbon copy Leader as in Sir Keir Starmer….yes I know we all want the Tories removed from power….but really do we want to replace them with another Tory party…..surely not.

Plus who , In Scotland, should care which Tory party (over) rule in their UK….as our only real objective is to escape from Tory politics and their Tory friendly media (red & blue ones)…..

  1. My husband has just informed that we received a letter today…with a salutation of our first names (more ‘personal’) from Rachel Reeves (MP for Leeds West) Shadow Labour Shadow Chancellor.

I live in Edinburgh….so what Jiggery pokery is this ?

She begins her letter by stating how people have seen 14 yrs of economic failure under the Tories and 17 years of failure under the SNP …..oops she forgot to mention the failure of Labour in Wales….I am sure that was just an oversight…..how long have they, Labour, been in power in the Senedd ?….em….1999 Lab/Lib Dem then minority Labour in 2003…then 2007 Labour/Plaid …then 2011 Labour minority….then 2015 Lab/Lib Dem then in 2021 Labour minority…..and still they fail in their NHS and too in many other areas….and did their Junior doctors not vote go out on strike recently….Scotland’s didn’t….so we, Scotland, and the SNP did not fail there then Rachel did we ?????

She then goes on about RESERVED failures but then adds that “The SNP are no better”…..how Rachel ?….well according to her they, the SNP, have made the “wrong choices for Scotland”….”defending record profits of oil and Gas giants”….You what …when did that happen……..not sure that’s entirely true Rachel….come on do not lie….and she also says “longer NHS waiting lists…..compared to when and to who Rachel ?……cuts to key local services and housebuilding grinding to a halt….whoa….whose telling you this Rachel…..and what about Labour in Wales that is YOUR party in Wales….what have they done as they (and Labour HQ) constantly complain about funding cuts to their budget from the UK government (as excuses for their failures which as a reason is not allowed to be also highlighted by the Scottish government)…..she also says “people in Scotland are now paying more for less”….now wait a wee minute….how would that be Rachel…..I’m a Scot and I get a lot more than some other areas in the UK…..I note that there is no facts/data breakdown to substantiate these assertions Rachel makes in her letter (propaganda leaflet)…..the rest is blah blah blah zippity doo dah blah….(she also incredibly mentions the Great British Energy….same one they, LABOUR, ditched paying the pledged amount of £28 billion towards )…..

If anyone reads this then I am sure you could dispute many of Rachel’s falsehoods she makes against the SNP….fill your boots…..

Honestly I cannot wait to see who will write to my husband and I next…..via the Labour party…..Lisa Nandy ?……with a ‘anymore talk of independence and you will get it…..Spanish style”…….

  2. That photo blurring Maggie and Keir into one homogeneous Tory may give Starmer some ideas . Watch for him adopting her hairstyle , her phony voice , and I wouldn’t put it past him to wear a twinset and pearls .

  3. If Mrs Thatcher had not existed then Labour would have had to invent her in order to hide their culpability in the demise of Scottish industry which started long before she became PM. Labour had two periods in power in the ’60s and ’70s but did not do anything to stop the closure of pits and shipyards or help the communities so badly affected by these closures.

At the time of nationalisation of the coal mines by the Attlee Gov there were 225 mines across Central Scotland. By the time Mrs Thatcher became PM in 1979 there were barely 20 mines left.

A similar picture with the shipyards. By the time they were nationalised by the Labour Gov in the late ’70s there were only 6 yards in Scotland to be nationalised – 4 on the Clyde, 1 in Dundee and 1 in Aberdeen.

The railways. Harold Wilson campaigned in the GE of 1963 against the Beeching cuts but once he became PM he continued with the cuts. Frequent strikes, increasing subsidies but no improvement in services saw passenger numbers decline steadily during the ’70s into the early ’80s. Mrs Thatcher & her Gov managed to turn that around and she did not want the railways privatised.

Labour in Scotland then spent the next 20 years where their campaigns boiled down to: ‘We’re no Mrs Thatcher. Gie’s yer vote’. It hollowed them out as a party such that when they gained power at Holyrood they had no idea what to do with it. They put their foot on the gas but the tank was empty.

As I said at the start Labour needed Mrs Thatcher to blame for something in which they were every bit as culpable.
