Many thanks to Andrew for spotting this
From The London Economic yesterday but largely ignored elsewhere:
Scotland’s annual tax contributions to the UK have increased by £14.2 billion over the last decade, with income tax, capital gains tax and taxes on productions such as environmental levies driving this increased contribution.
New analysis shows that the Scottish public sector generated an annual revenue of £73.3 billion during the last financial year, a 24 per cent increase versus a decade ago, equating to an increased contribution of £14.2 billion to the UK economy.
As a result, Scotland now accounts for 8 per cent of total UK contributions, far more than the 3.5 per cent contributed by Wales and the 2.1 per cent contributed by Northern Ireland, although the populations in those countries are significantly lower.
Both income tax (+71 per cent) and capital gains tax (+70 per cent) have seen the largest increase of all taxes on income and wealth over the last decade, with corporation tax excluding North Sea Oil also up 17 per cent.
As often in these reports, oil and gas revenue is ignored, so:
In 2022/23, the UK government’s North Sea revenue was 10.57 billion British pounds, compared with 2.66 billion in the previous reporting year.
How much from Scottish waters? 90%, or pushing 10 of the above £10bn.
Total contribution for last year then – £83bn. Returned to Scotland for that same year? £42bn, half.

Alas. The BEEB, Herod, Hootsmon and those Scotophobic Anglo-papers have dedicated their liquid lunch hour candle-watt brain power to proving that Scotland is too wee, too poor and too anti-nukes (bombs, dumps and fission) to survive.
Hic!
“Anozah double Giuseppi, and be quick about it”! “Ffoulksakia will put it on his expenses.”!

‘As often in these reports, oil and gas revenue is ignored’. Indeed!
See this from the House of Commons Library (25 April 2023) in a briefing entitled ‘Taxation of North Sea oil and gas’. (https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN00341/SN00341.pdf)
‘UK oil and gas tax revenues rose from £300 million in 2020/21 to £2.6 billion in 2021/22. The OBR currently FORECAST TAX RECEIPTS OVER THE SIX-YEAR PERIOD 2022/23 TO 2027/28 WILL AVERAGE £8.6 BILLION, UP FROM AN AVERAGE OF £0.8 BILLION OVER THE SIX YEARS TO 2021/22.’ (my emphasis)
The same briefing also refers to recently imposed windfall taxes: ‘The OBR currently forecast that RECEIPTS FROM THE ENERGY PROFITS LEVY (i.e. on oil & gas companies) TO BE £25.9 BILLION BETWEEN 2022-23 AND 2027-28, AND RECEIPTS FROM THE ELECTRICITY GENERATOR LEVY TO BE £14.0 BILLION OVER THE SAME PERIOD. (The Chancellor announced the Energy Generator Levy – a new temporary 45% levy on electricity generators – would operate from 1 January 2023.)
On 6 March 2024, from the BBC News website had this: ‘What is the windfall tax on oil and gas companies and how much do they pay?’ It reported that the Energy Profits Levy RAISED £2.6BN IN ITS FIRST YEAR.’
More evidence of the Scottish cash cow! And it’s not only about how much tax revenue generated from Scotland’s assets is taken by the UK Exchequer, it’s about what that revenue is spent on, where – and who’s deciding this. Scotland may well make an ‘extraordinary fiscal contribution’ but the OPPORTUNITY COSTS impacting those who choose to live, work and otherwise contribute in Scotland is arguably just as significant.

I am convinced that the only way we are going to detach ourselves from this odious Union is to join SALVOs LIBERATION MOVEMENT and take our case to the International authorities to force our democratic right to self determination. Enough is enough.

Scotland raises £87Billion in revenues. UK raises £731Billion. £731 -£87 = £644Billion = what the rest of the UK raises. Scotland raises much more pro rata.
Westminster spends £1090Billion.
Scotland has to pay for HS2, Hinkley Point, illegal wars, redundant weaponry, Trident. Scotland has to make repayment on loans not borrowed and spent in Scotland. Spent in the rest of the UK. Scotland cannot borrow but is accrued Westminster Gov debt. Westminster poor, bad decisions,
Scotland (UK) loses £Billions. because of Brexit. Westminster spends £125Billion funding the NHS, a year. Not changed for 9 years. Austerity. When it should have been increased. (Inflation, austerity). A growing elderly population. Scotland spends £13Billion + social care from the Block Grant £40Billion. A third of the Block Grant. Mitigating Westminster cuts.
Westminster spent £270Billions over two years. Much of it was wasted. Westminster spending £13Billion a year on nuclear decommissioning. Over ten years £130Billion. Costs increasing all the time.
Scotland in surplus in fuel and energy and nearer the source. Pays more. A tax on the whole economy. Scotland should pay 10% less for parity. The list is endless. How Westminster policies damage the economy. Scotland would be far better off Independent. Not over ruled by Westminster. Tax evasion. £30Billion. £3Billion lost to Scotland, UK tax Laws not enforced by the UK Gov. EU enforcing tax Laws on foreign multinational company evading taxs.
UK Gov whole accounts 20/21. June 2023. Scottish Gov accounts.
