Has anyone told these ‘journalists’ about the “Covid WhatsApp scandals” connected to both the Tory UK and Labour Welsh governments?

Not so great minds who think alike:

Tom Gordon The Herald tweeted “He knew the drill Jason Leitch quits as National Clinical Director following Covid WhatsApp scandal

Paul Hutcheon The Daily Record tweeted “BREAKING: Jason Leitch to leave Scottish Government as national clinical adviser after covid WhatsApp scandal

Andrew Learmonth The Herald tweeted ” Jason Leitch quits as National Clinical Director following Covid Whatsapp scandal

Scottish (INO) Express Tweeted “Jason Leitch leaving role as National Clinical Director after Covid WhatsApp scandal

Has anyone told these ‘Journalists’ about the “Covid WhatsApp scandals” connected to both the Tory UK and Labour Welsh governments…..asking for Scotland.

Seems full accountability presented as a “Scandal” must only be placed at the door of the Scottish government and must also include any individuals who were linked, via association, by some role that they had with the Scottish government during the Covid pandemic……meanwhile down South (London) and to the West of Central England (Wales) …….apparently…..‘unfortunate errors were made’.…and ‘mistakes will happen’…..as apparently for them, the Pandemic, was an “unprecedented event”….but apparently for our government in Scotland….they, as a government, should have been (well) prepared, ready to act, know exactly what to do and when to do it and basically not put a foot out of place…..during this “unprecedented event”

No political party or government in the world is perfect….as no political party or government can be all things to all people…however we have a media in Scotland who go ‘above and beyond’ to (over) promote that the SNP as the Scottish government are very much imperfect and who really should be all things to all people in how they act and what they say at all times…..as a constant media message….it is extremely manipulative of them….and sadly very predictable too……

But no matter the situation…. unprecedented event or normal business…..the SNP as a party and as a devolved government in Scotland will never satisfy, be commended, exceed expectations, be thanked or indeed be seen as doing their best by the media here or indeed elsewhere within their UK…..in what is an intolerable and unbearable situation for our government in Scotland within a very much dysfunctional political UK state where their UK Government over ‘rules the roost’ within their UK……not just via Reserved policies but also now they are overruling Devolved legislation via the bogus red herring of an excuse aka the UK Internal market…..aka WM power grab post their , UK government’s, failed and flawed Brexit policy as instigated and implemented by them……NOT a policy instigated, wanted or condoned by Scotland or indeed by our government…….Nope…that was a policy that was created and (not really well) delivered by others within the UK who also have Not so Great minds who think alike !….aka the new (very) right wing Tory party.

However there has, at last or at least, been ONE benefit to Brexit….it seems to be completely destroying the Tory party……..so not all bad……but then…..we also now have the born again Brexiteer Labour party to still contend with….perhaps Brexit may also destroy them too….oh dear that would be a shame….while other new rogue so called ‘political’ parties may also find that they too will ‘pay the price’ in eventually being the next ‘political’ victims of their own deceit via Brexit….one lives in hope.

  1. What sticks in my craw over reporting on the “WhatsApp scandal”, particularly in relation to Leitch etc., is the media’s wilful blanking of deletion not only having been a security protocol, but that ALL civil servants had been instructed at the instigation of #10 to delete these messages daily – This was confirmed at one of the early Inquiry sessions in London along with #10’s chief of staff having activated auto-delete but could not explain to the Inquiry why he did it.

That was only overruled by the Covid Inquiry many months after the deed was done – Yet strangely, the media and opposition hold that UK civil servants working in SG (Leitch et al) were somehow exempt from complying with the rules.

There are massive gaps in the written evidence of salient conversations in London, not so in Edinburgh or Cardiff.

That is the real “scandal” over WhatsApp messages – Devolved administrations are being put through the wringer by the media because of the scheming of one man, Boris ‘let the bodies pile high’ Johnson.

  2. This morning on Radio 4 (10/4/24) Helen Lewis’s documentary ‘Influenced – Helen Lewis has left the chat’ reported on the use of Whatsapp in UK government and obliquely referenced the suspicion that arose in the Covis enquire around Jason Leitch and Nicola Sturgeon routinely deleting their whatsapps every night.

Later in the programme in an interview with Dominic Cummings he mentioned that it was a standing civil service instruction to do exactly this, so that lost or stolen phones did not lead to unintended security breaches. He indicated that anything of importance should be copied to email for preservation.

Helen Lewis omitted to add a few words that would have been needed to say that what he disclosed completely vindicated the approach taken by Scottish government, and confirmed the evidence given at the Scottish part of the Covid enquiry
