Note to Rishi on mob rule – public order offences in England and Wales fell last year and the Gaza protest arrest rate was lower than Glastonbury!

The number of people arrested for public order offences in England & Wales was down on the previous year and well down on 2015/2016.

Many of the Gaza protests were in last year’s figures.

The number of offences (some people are arrested more than once), is also in decline:

The arrest rate at Gaza protests has been lower than at Glastonbury: https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/palestine-gaza-protests-arrests-metropolitan-police-suella-braverman-glastonbury/

I’m aware of no riots this year.

Yet, as they slide to defeat, the Tories scrabble for some scare story to save them:

  1. They are using the Donald Trump ‘alternative facts’. You say X, they say Y, Y is correct because it is an alternative fact.

  2. Why is he doing this, to try and save his job by unleashing the right wing nut jobs in his party and back to heavy handed, police kettling?

  3. Both main political parties have become so unpopular with the public that the electorate are beginning to bite back at the cartel – The headline Rochdale result was Galloway and Gaza, but the numbers will have sent shock waves through England’s political establishment, not just the Tories…

They are desperately trying to convince the public that UK politics is not to blame, and sailing dangerously close to fascism…

  4. There are 6.9% Muslims in the UK. 2% in Scotland. 39% live in deprived areas. Yet the Tories claim the Muslims are taking over. Totally impossible. Muslims are more law abiding. They do not drink alcohol.

There are 6,000 Jews in Scotland. It would be difficult to find one to insult,

The situation in Gaza is absolutely beyond comprehension. Half of people in Israel do not support Netanyahu. A complete criminal who has ruined the economy cause so much trouble. Killed so many people.

Sunak’s father- in – law is doing deals with BP in Gaza. Countries are illegally selling redundant arms to Israel to get rid of them. US funds and supports Israel. A US military base. If the Arabs allowed to vote in Israel voted in a higher turnout. Netanyahu would be in jail.

  5. Trump would stop the fighting in Gaza and the Ukraine conflict. That is why people in the US vote for him. An extreme religious cult member was appointed to the Supreme Court. Losing the women’s vote. Abortion. Congress members said they were ignorant when she was approved. Fooled? Claimed to be impartial. State.Law still supports abortion.

  7. I’m old enough to remember during Brexit where outside the HOC MP’s were being approached and shouted at for their lack of support (opposition) for the Tories Brexit deal….even Tory MP’s like Anna Soubry were confronted by and surrounded by angry individuals who hurled insults at her….indeed one could call them (Far Right) “Extremists” who were “protesting” against those who did not support the Tory Brexit…..

Soubry was called a “Nazi” and a “liar” by Brexiteer protesters as she was interviewed near the Palace of Westminster – and she was later chased down the street being called a “fascist”.

The Tories response to this, via the then Brexit secretary, Stephen Barclay, was to state ““And I think it is time now, after what has been a difficult period of time, to come together in the national interest – to unite behind the only deal on the table.”

He conceded that it was disgraceful as in the behaviour against Ms Soubry …..but did not go as far as Rishi Sunak has stated now in declaring a war against protests……

Tory MP (and Ex Tory Govt minister) Justine Greening stated ““It’s shocking and disgraceful that (Tory) Ministers are somehow excusing and legitimising mob rule and those thugs. Their behaviour is against our democracy and freedom of speech, not part of it.”

And she asked ” “What kind of country are we turning into?”

However it was not only Anna Soubry who was being confronted by these thugs….it was also other MP’s and indeed some journalists like Owen Jones …….

Soubry’s response was (after her ordeal that night): “Apparently MPs & politicians are meant to accept it as part of the democratic process”.

“I fail to see why journalists and technicians should be subjected to the same abuse & intimidation as the police stand by and do nothing. They tried to stop me getting into Parliament.” (Oh Anna you should see what they want the police to do now via protestors)

So where was the response via the Tory UK government upon this in taking real action on stopping what was a REAL threat to the safety of MP’s via mob rule aka real and actual ‘Extremist protests“…indeed did the media not cite that the person who killed Jo Cox targeted her because of her anti Brexit position that then prompted his murder of her……he an individual, with mental health issues, who had been radicalised by Far right ideology, who as an individual, had targeted Ms Cox because of her support for the EU……

So as Rishi Sunak has declared that “We must face down extremists”

He, Sunak, has also tweeted “In Parliament this week, a dangerous signal was sent that intimidation works. It is toxic for our society and our politics. It is an affront to the liberties and values we hold dear in Britain. Our democracy cannot and must not bend to the threat of violence and intimidation”

So up to 2019 and beyond via extreme Brexiteer protestors why was there not a similar reaction and too action plan from the Tories (PM and government ministers) to quash those Brexit thugs who were clearly targeting and trying to intimidate MP’s and other individuals ……in what was a “dangerous signal being sent that assumed intimidation works” and was “toxic for society and politics” and an “affront to liberties and values” instead we were all expected to accept that via these far right Pro Brexit thugs that “the threat of violence and intimidation” was somehow to be tolerated and accepted as part of Tory “Democracy” as they, the thugs, were supporting a Tory policy (now a Labour policy too) that was 9and is) Brexit.

Smells (badly) like this current indignation, faux outrage and anger via Sunak , the Tory PM, on pro Palestine protestors who are being referred to by him as “Extremists” is very selective and tis also being backed up as a fact by the Labour Party and the Speaker of the House as an actual reality ….pity they , Tories, had not acted with the same anger , outrage and indignation, when MP’s (including Tory MP’s)and others safety was really being compromised by Brexit thugs which then really should have resulted in more decisive action being taken by the Tory PM and Tory UK government…….against those angry and confrontational ‘protests’

    Absolute parcel of rogues …….

    1. Sunak knows full well that “We must face down extremists” is precisely what the public are and have been doing.

With ‘anti-semitism’ propaganda having failed to turn public disgust over what has happened in Gaza to support for Israel, they now seek to play victim of ‘extremism’.

Have a listen to what Truss was saying in the US, particularly relating to a ‘jihadist party contesting the Rochdale by-election, it’s beyond the pale…

      1. The establishment and the tory’s would have been happy had labour romped to victory despite the very obvious political disengagement of the masses, no change to the two horse race status quo.

We’ve known for long just how undemocatic, corrupt, divisive and dangerous the westminster system is, a few more English people joined our ranks after they witnessed Sunak’s speech.

        Golfnut.

  8. Divide and conquer is the strategy now being rolled out, and with some precise propaganda as a “adrenalin” booster. Power corrupts and ultimate power corrupts ultimately or something along that lines. We never learn from history.
