New evidence from Fiona Bruce that waiting lists in England are far far longer than in Scotland

From Fiona Bruce of BBC News at 6:

The BBC has discovered that many NHS patients in England are stuck on waiting lists potentially running into millions. People who are referred to a specialist for treatment for cancer or heart failure for example are no longer counted on the main waiting lists.

The Director of Data Analytics at the The Health Foundation then says:

It’s very difficult to get an idea of the number…it’s not quite clear which hospital record it and which don’t…but I would guess it’s in the millions!

Imagine that was in Scotland?

Imagine Jackie Baillie on Reporting Scotland.

What is the current situation before considering this revelation?

From the Scottish Government only 4 days ago:

Data to March 2023 show that in Scotland there were 114 patients waiting per 1,000 population for Treatment Time Guarantee (TTG) and New Outpatients (NOP) appointments, whereas in England 130 patients per 1,000 population were on the Referral to Treatment (RTT) waiting list.

Add a few millions to the England graph, making it an honest and more plausible equivalent picture to the Welsh and NI one and NHS Scotland’s superiority under the SNP is all-too-clear.

What’s the big story in BBC Scotland? Delays in building new hospitals.

  3. More has been spent because of the Doctors strike in the South, than giving them the salary increase. The Tory have cut NHS spending since 2015. No increase. £125Billion.

The Tories spent £270Billion on Covid funding over two years. Much of it wasted on PPE not fit for purpose. Into the pockets of Tories and their associates. Mone has still not be investigated properly. Or paid back the fraudulently obtained public monies. They should be in jail.
