The Herald today has:
The number of new teachers fleeing the profession has spiked this year as opposition politicians blame poor pay and violence in classrooms for the exodus.
More than 1300 teachers have left the profession within the first five years of their career since 2018, according to figures from the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).
Who asked the GTC for those figures? The Lib Dumbs, Scotland’s second-smallest party in Holyrood. Their Education spokesperson – Willie Rennie.

The totals, 183, 187, 238, 182, 219, 338, do suggest an increasing trend but an 11 year-old being taught about the value of percentages might ask to see those just in case they’re not increasing.
The Lib Dumbs carefully did not ask for those but we know, because BBC Scotland told us in 2018:
Student teacher intake increased for three years in a row, reaching 3,902 in 2018 compared to 3,376 in 2015-16.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-46501068
So, in 2019, around 500 more trainees are arriving in Scottish schools than had been the case only 3 years before and the raw number leaving within 5 years increases by around 150?
Without access to the year-by-year student intake data, I can’t be sure but might the percentage leaving be reducing? Looks that way to me.
And why?

Related to the number of pupils in Scotland. 800,000.
54,000 teachers. 20,000 classroom assistants + other staff.
Teachers in Scotland higher grade level £48,000. In England £41,000. A year.
Pupil numbers could have fallen. Less children born = Ratio.
Early learning higher teacher/staff ratio. Percentage.
5/6 years Academy status = Higher teacher to pupil ration = Lower class sizes.
+ university/ college staff.
Unionist councils are responsible for teacher employment + staff ration. Related to staff issues. Ie employ classroom assistants instead of more teachers. Instead of keeping class sizes down. Councils responsibility.
Scottish Gov supplies the funding/monies.

Could the LibDems sudden interest in teacher numbers in Scotland have anything to do with distracting from this story about teacher numbers falling in England and the call to recruit overseas?

They’re running this bullshit hit piece in the Aberdeen press today as well, same lack of context as per usual. As is always the case they have it tagged against ‘Scottish Government’.

They also ran this ‘story?’ in The National first thing this morning, however as a student of The Professor I quickly added a comment berating them for just using a Lib-Dumb press release without context such as vis a vis England, Wales or NI or alternatively when the Lib-Dumbs were in coalition
Surprise, surprise the article is no longer available

Teachers in Scotland have higher degree level. Need a Scottish degree/qualifications to teach in Scotland.
The unionists are leaving out the support education + staff. numbers. The journalists haven’t go a clue or any relevant qualification. Can’s count, do maths or read a balance sheet. No statistic skills. They need a better education or the ability to research a few facts. Or even Google it. Total irresponsibility. The Press regurgitating nonsense.
Scotland has one of the best education systems in the world. It would be even better without Unionist Parties corrupt interference,
