1.6% of Scotland’s addresses ‘too dangerous’ for ambulances without police escort, maybe

..too dangerous for ambulance crews to attend without police back-up…the Scottish Police Federation (trade union) is warning that budget constraints mean it will be physically impossible to respond to every call for assistance. The GMB Union, which represents ambulance workers, says the loss of police backup is a huger concern.

Context from a taxpayer-funded public service broadcaster with a charter requiring it to inform?

None.

Here is some:

First, there are around 2.7 million domestic addresses in Scotland. That 4 500 is 01.6%.

Apparently, the figure for the whole of England, is only 1 400 for 10 times the population. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/7821753/assault-paramedics-ambulance-crew-red-flag-addresses-england/

What, I wonder, is the source of the Scottish Police Federation figure?

Try searching for comparable figures before 1 January 2023. None I can find. Suspicious?

Second, Scotland has 22% more police officers proportionally than Labour Wales and nearly 20% more than England to drive down crime.

  1. …and if they are refused their suggested increase in the BBC Tax then this will greatly affect their capacity to invent Ferry stories , investigate Campervan corruption in the Scottish Government and will reduce exponentially the number of spurious FOI requests they make to find anything that will tarnish the SNP .

  2. Dangerous in what way ?
    That is the question
I would say all tenement addresses are dangerous apart from ground floor
Ever tried getting someone down stairs if they can’t walk down them themselves of course it’s dangerous
There are a lot of tenements in Scotland
Getting through busy traffic is dangerous a police escort helps , in England they just don’t get to you quickly if at all

  3. I think this is also an example of class discrimination – the ‘bad area’ lie. Housing schemes in BBC and other media parlance have always been ‘bad areas’ which is stereotyping all residents of that area as antisocial. Since the residents of such areas are working class, this is the Tory (and Red Tory/Labour) narrative that such people are scumbags and welfare scroungers.

Whole areas, like Drumchapel, which at one time had 50 000 residents were condemned as subhuman by the media. Yet, many of these people had highly skilled jobs in the shipyards in Scotstoun and Clydebank, many worked in hospitals and places like Barr and Stroud’s. Many of their children went on to Further and Higher Education and a range of careers. Drumchapel was the source of many talented footballers and other sports people.

It is disgraceful that a trade union is perpetuating this lie.
