“The RSC is pushing for a tenfold reduction of the limit for individual PFAS types – from 100ng/l to 10ng/l – as well as an overall limit of 100ng/l for the total amount of PFAS.
It would bring the UK closer to the EU and Scotland, which have a stricter limit of 100 ng/l for the sum of 20 specific PFAS in treated water. Some countries have stricter limits, with Denmark’s set at just 2ng/l for four individual PFAS, and the US Environmental Protection Agency has proposed dropping limits on some to just 4ng/l.”
“Dr Clare Cavers from the environmental charity Fidra, described the findings as “extremely alarming, in particular as the acceptable limit set by the DWI for the banned toxic forever chemical PFOS is much higher than in other parts of the world”.”

Maybe if the privatised Water Companies in England stopped adding sh*t to their customers supply then they might hit these targets more quickly . But … there’s always a ”but”…this would involve a radical change in priorities – dividends for shareholders would suffer . Watch this space !

With a large %age of England’s water supplies ground or river abstracted, contamination was always an issue, but by the time the cumulative effect of such compounds had dawned on them, the damage was already done.
Larger populations lead to higher abstraction rates leading to increased risk of such contamination – Reduction by blending with purer water is fast becoming a nightmare for water companies as ‘purer’ supplies are almost if not already exhausted.
It all leads back to warnings the government were given in the 1970/80s over England’s dwindling water supplies and water policies – They did next to nothing about then sold off the ‘problem’….

Maybe “Starwar” under a Labour government could come up to Scotland and announce “GB water” sourced from Scotland to add to GB Energy!!!
Then they could have GB Minerals, GB Fisheries, GB Wood…..no wait!!!
We all know that Westmonster reeeeaaaally has Scottish interests at heart!!
