Matheson ‘stopped doing his job’ on holiday?

A man with three jobs, all of which he does part-time, argues that a man who used his work iPad to keep in touch with his constituency staff even while on holiday, as any good MSP would, gets thoroughly confused again by the notion.

As Gaza burns, tower block residents are evacuated in Tory England and as English maternity units are revealed to be unsafe, the Scottish Tories think this is the big issue.

Herman Goering look-a-like, Stephen Kerr MSP Con, is getting right into this too:

This is Michael Matheson’s phone bill, revealed by a FOI. The two dates the most data was used; the 28th Dec and the 2nd Jan, are both notable for significant football matches: Hibs v Celtic and Celtic v Rangers. A coincidence? We need the full truth.

So, the Scottish Cons are Rangers-daft, Matheson and Yousaf are Celtic-daft? Resign!!!

  1. Criticism from DRoss and Kerr about elected officials wasting public money ?
Two of the most eqregious examples of public money being better wasted would be hard to find .than these two parasites .
I defy anyone to point out a benefit to the public that has ever accrued from these two t*ssers being members of either Holyrood or Westminster .

  2. Unfortunately for us in The SNP Michael Mathieson has Now admitted that it was His Family Watching Live Football games on His iPad & Not Him doing Constituency Work!
This Time last Week Both Michael & HUmZA knew the Real Reason for the nearly £11k Roaming Charge & Michael agreed to pay back the nearly £11k!
That’s when Michael should have Told the Truth – He Must Resign!!!

    1. Well, at first it seems he didn’t know and EE couldn’t give a breakdown when IT asked. He knew he’d only used it for constituency work.

It was only later when it hit the news that his wife told him “other members of the family” (to wit his teenage sons) had used it. He didn’t want – as one BTL in the National put it – to throw his sons under a bus. Realising that, to explain the amount, he had to bring them into it, he did so. At first he didn’t know there was anything to admit, then he said nothing to try to protect his very silly sons from politics and the media.

Maybe they should come into Holyrood and stand there explaining how and why they used it, why they accessed their father’s work equipment without permission and why they thought this was the right thing to do.

Then – when he’s quite finished burbling about misleading parliament – Dross can follow up by explaining exactly how it was different when he managed to forget about an entire year’s earning in one of his jobs.

In this instance – to be as fair as possible to Ms Baillie – she said that his offspring doing it would be understood, the cover up wouldn’t. Also saying he was “negligent” and if he understood that some may have lost confidence in his ability to do his job.” (I think he might get more sympathy than she’d think). He certainly has mine.

  3. Tonight the main BBC news and Reporting Scotland reported on this issue. RS led with it of course in a report that was long on subjective comment/opinion but short of a clear factual narrative although they did mention his sons used the iPad as a wi-fi hot spot. A little nugget omitted by the report in the main news.

Then we had the floods in Brechin but no mention of the money the SG has made available to help householders and the Local Council.

Then ferries, aging fleet etc etc.

Then just to show how corrupt the senior members of the SNP a short item about Stephen Flynn being investigated since August for misuse of Commons stationery which they admitted had a value of a few pence!

The planet is imploding, genocide in Gaza, rampant corruption in Westminster and craven politicians not voting for a ceasefire but RS goes with roaming charges and 2p worth of stationery.

So the kids thought “Hey! We don’t have to miss the footie. We can go through dad’s iPad to access the game”.

Even less serious than it sounded at first… And who configured the equipment in the first place. Because if he asked his son to help set it up it certainly wasn’t Mr Mathieson!

  4. Mind you, if he’d stopped doing his job (and many would argue that some MSPs never start theirs) he certainly wouldn’t be in the mess he is now!

  5. I hate to say it but was never a fan of Mathieson. He always struck me to be like a rabbit frozen in the spot light when confronted in the media and in Parliament. Moreover who allows their children access to their laptops especially a Government minister with likely sensitive information? What annoys me is yet again the SNP have given cause to an already hostile media the opportunity to inflict further damage. As a party member regretfully I see no option but for him to resign.

    1. I know what you mean but for me there is no blood here. How can they get so worked up about £11k roaming fees when they appear to care little about the then possibly hundreds of millions that were wasted on commissioning shoddy goods during the pandemic. Talk about a lack of proportion and imbalance.

  6. Tories spent £270Billion funding Covid over two years. £370Billion over all. Scotland did not get £27Billion pro rata. UK raises £731 in revenues a year. Westminster spends £1090Billion. Scotland does not get £109Billion pro rata.

Scotland raises £87Billion. Spends £54Billion. Westminster spends the rest. £33Billion.
