In the Herald yesterday:
Alex Cole-Hamilton has insisted Humza Yousaf will be the “last nationalist first minister of Scotland” as he appealed to SNP voters “looking for a party to inspire them” to back the Liberal Democrats.
The plea came as he addressed the Lib Dem conference in Bournemouth.

As the UK Lib Dems do realistically plot another of their once-in-a-generation but ultimately temporary, defeats/replacements of the Tories in the South of England, their 4 Scottish MPs are down there talking-up prospects of a Yoon coalition up here among folk who hate each other’s guts.
Their researchers must be stuck on the August polling at the tail-end of a long SNP dip, achieved by media carpet bombing, but which cannot be sustained and which is already behind us, as the SNP pull ahead in both Westminster and Holyrood voting intentions polls.
The polling is even stronger for Holyrood than for Westminster, where the SNP may lose a few seats next year but an SNP/Green coalition looks secure in Scotland and can be expected to be even more so by 2026, after a year of Labour failure in government and further consolidated as evidence of the effectiveness of progressive SNP policies squeezes through the media firewalls.

I think this is up there with “Go back to your constituencies and prepare for government”.
Political dialogue in Scotland is polarised between self government and continuing London rule.
Now that devolution has been exposed as a sham, there is no middle ground and no place for politicians who seek to occupy that space (for whatever reason).
The far North may be one of the exceptions but that is more to do with keeping external governance as far away as possible than any desire for middle ground politics.
Go back to your constituencies and prepare for oblivion, might be nearer the mark.

Regarding the Holyrood elections, I’m starting to wonder how the SNP/Green coalition will be affected by how many constituency seats the Greens stand in. I fear that could let Unionist tactical voting get them more constituency seats.

Yes, it’s a worry but hopefully not too big a one.

Saw a clip of ACH-him at Bournemouth being interviewed on the Sunday Show, it would be fair to say he was no less unimpressive than usual.

The LibDems will be appealing to those who like abusing women as their party appears to do by ignoring complaints from within the party !
Over to you , ACH !
