It was the local Labour-led council [South Lanarkshire, Joe Fagan] that increased council tax by 5.5% this year. In Holyrood, Labour voted with the government on income tax rates for this year, their spokesperson stating, “I am pleased to see the proposals being made” and noting “the measures are progressive.”

  1. Clearly Mr Shanks, or, more probably, the ventriloquist who operates him as a dummy knows nothing about Glasgow. Glasgow has no congestion charge or ‘commuter “tax”‘. I suspect he is talking about the LEZ in Glasgow City Centre. Glasgow City Centre is very well served by rail, bus, and Subway and most commuters from the Hamilton and Rutherglen areas use these.

    Clearly “TAX” is deemed to be a bad word by The Kid Starver’s Labour Party, with things like £1250 handbag Reeves saying no wealth TAX.

    The local Labour branch where I live call the parking controls in our area a “stealth TAX”.
