From Wales online on 6 August 2023:
The Welsh Government are refusing to disclose vital information into how they handled Covid 19.
In the early months of the pandemic the Welsh Government were desperate to get as many people out of hospitals and into care homes as possible in order to free up capacity. Then health minister Vaughan Gething initially refused to test anyone who had no symptoms for Covid, a decision which likely seeded the virus into the part of Welsh society which was most vulnerable. A WalesOnline investigation proved that policy makers were made aware of the risks posed by asymptomatic transmission long before they began testing. You can read this here. Plaid Cymru have been trying to find the advice that underpins this decision making and submitted a Freedom of Information request. In it they asked for: “All Ministerial Advice (and any other supporting documents) that informed the Welsh Government’s policies on Covid-19 testing for care home staff and residents in Wales (including residents being transferred from hospitals to care homes) from 30 January 2020 to 16 May 2020.”

Transfer from Hospitals to care home? Wasn’t that a biggie for Scottish Labour? In April 2021:
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Scottish Labour leader Mr Sarwar said that despite medical evidence to the contrary, it was “common sense” not to discharge patients from hospitals to care homes.

What did that lead to in Scotland?
Labour demands Scottish Covid inquiry in wake of Westminster report. Labour has repeated its calls for a Scottish Covid inquiry – following a damning report from Westminster outlining the UK Government’s failings in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

What did that damning Westminster report lead to in Labour Wales?
Voting down of Wales Covid inquiry ‘most shameful day in the history’ of Welsh Labour govt, say Tories.
All the main opposition parties in Wales have called for a Wales-only-inquiry, as have campaign groups such as the Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice Cymru (CBFJC). But the Welsh Government has argued that a UK-wide inquiry will be the best way to examine decisions made in the four UK nations.
The aim was to establish a special purpose Senedd committee to identify where the UK inquiry is not able to fully scrutinise the response of the Welsh Government and Welsh public bodies to the pandemic.
Calls for Wales to have its own Covid inquiry have been repeated following a recent admission that the UK inquiry “cannot cover every issue” relating to Wales.
Speaking after the proposal was defeated, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Russell George MS said: “It is incredible that Labour has again blocked attempts to impose scrutiny and accountability on them by blocking the formation of this committee.

We may accuse Scottish Labour of being a mere branch office but Welsh Labour seem quite a bit tougher and more defensive in Government.
Another warning for the good folk of Rutherglen & Hamilton West?

“Scottish Labour demand a Covid inquiry but Welsh Labour won’t have one and won’t even co-operate with the UK ‘gold standard’ one”
Well you need to remember there are TWO (or maybe THREE) principles that Labour in Scotland apply as a political (branch office) party….they are…
1. Labour in Wales are the EXCEPTION to the RULE(s).
2. Tories are the those who apply RULES that Labour in Scotland (and their HQ) rarely take EXCEPTION to.
3. #SNPBAD is such a constant slogan with Labour in Scotland that it would indeed be considered to be an EXCEPTIONAL moment via the RULES as dictated and applied by Labour against their political opponents …as in the SNP….. if they, Labour in Scotland, did not apply #SNPBAD as their instinctive reaction to any and all situations that occurred within Scotland that then results in them, Labour, applying all of the blame upon the Scottish government/SNP alone.
Once you know that then you begin to understand where they, Labour in Scotland, (always) stand in relation to anything and everything within politics in their UK….also commonly referred to as ” Do as I (we) say not as I (we) do”……and also ” Rules for THEM and rules for US”….SIMPLES….or rather a simplified, partisan and lazy position that they always take, which when exposed , does tend to COMPLICATE things for them….as a party…as it then exposes them as ones clearly seen to be the hypocrites that they truly are.

It will be interesting to hear how Sarwar turns his strident calls for old people to be removed from Hospitals and returned , untested , to Care Homes into ”I warned the SNP Government this would happen !”
But then he is learning the art of the political U-turn from his Boss , Sir Kid Starver .
