England’s water NINE times more likely to contain sewage

This requires little effort.

England above, Scotland below:

The flows and levels in Scotland’s water environment are currently at good or better condition in 90% of rivers, lochs and groundwaters. This is up from 88% when we published the second RBMPs.

  1. I saw the article yesterday and hoped you would produce the equivalent Scottish stats – and you didn’t fail me 🙂
Many thanks – will pass on to my relatives living in England.

  2. Big news for the coming week,

Coffey invites the Welsh and Scottish governments to get help from englandland sort out the rest of our waterways.

    Under the ‘levelling up’ directive.

  3. Absolutely criminal, why are the people of England not up in arms about that, are they happy their government is actually willfully polluting their rivers…I suspect they have their heads in the mud about it, ignore and it will go away. Yikes.

What ?……only the water ?…..surely there is also other forms of ‘sewage’ generated via their supposed ‘media’ and UK ‘politics’ that could also be defined under this description…..which could also be described many a time as ‘garbage’ too…

The ebb and flow of the constant stream of whitewashing of the many FLAWS and FAILURES via the UK government and too the Labour party by the media is clear or rather I should say very much them trying to muddy the waters….while the SNP are drowning in a sea of disinformation via that same media and too those opposition parties…..indeed any success or improvements via the Scottish government evaporate as positives as they are not promoted by the media as such (or rather at all) and are always misrepresented by the opposition….or rather attempted to be dissolved by them, as in those in opposition to the SNP, as positives that then results in failing to be promoted (ignored) by their, opposition parties, client media…..

What we really need is a Watershed moment to occur via MORE peeps in Scotland then finally both the media and the opposition parties will be ‘up a creek without a paddle’ as their ‘bubble(s)’ will at last be busted…..then at last we will be able to ‘rain on their parade’…..that’s the end of some of my water related terms BUT……pathetic I know I may be…. BUT needs must as there is a real drought of truth and reality out there in the political and media world….as in those who are part of an exclusive club….that is confined to and protective of only those who support the UK….where the SNP are very much regarded as those who ‘swim against the (pro UK) tide’…hence why they , the SNP, get such a hail of abuse from them all….pity then that for them, the opposition and their media that a STORM is indeed eventually coming ( as in OUR independence)….indeed IT IS.

    Have a nice day everyone

    🙂

  5. SEPA have engaged with farming communities on good environmental husbandry for over 20 years, collaboratively reducing runoff pollution to an all time low. They are proactively on the look-out for pollution, and chase down the source asap.
    – That is the reason Scottish media has focussed on SW and the number of times CSOs discharge, to distort public perspectives to the reality it is is very much an England problem

However, there is also a massive difference in the flows and topography of Scotland’s rivers compared to those in England
    – Whereas a slug of pollution from a “screened” river CSO in Scotland can be diluted and out to sea in under a day – It can take a week or more of passing cities and towns in England before the slug gets to sea, but together with the thousands of other slugs, it’s disastrous.
As for DEFRA’s engagement with farming communities and pollution runoff, remember the Tory obsession over getting rid of red-tape, and Gove, Truss and Useless as Ministers in charge of DEFRA ? Little wonder England’s rivers are now Coffey coloured.

eg – The much publicised (G Monbiot) eutrophication of the River Wye was not due to some freak accident, it was a continuing process stretching back decades and becoming a cumulative nightmare whilst DEFRA turned a blind eye.
    – Action was only taken when it became politically embarrassing not to do so, and even then it will take many years for the Wye to begin to recover.
That hasn’t happened in Scotland and absolutely never will.

  6. What the Herald wants is for Scottish water to pollute Scotlands rivers and the sea as badly as the English water companies have done, the Herlad says how dare Scotland be better than England and instead of scolding the English water companies for misspending and giving shareholders huge amounts of money that should have been spent keeping sewage out of rivers and seas the Herald says Scottish water should copy England and redirect money away from keeping our water clean and start to pollute the rivers and seas the same as England .
Not much brains those herald folk they pollute the media as badly as the English water companies pollute rivers and seas
