Scottish Government actions have saved 100 000 health appointments

Health strikes? Wrong page! we’ve got SNP crisis again.

As junior doctors in England begin their fifth round of industrial action and BBC Scotland tell the old and vulnerable to ‘Just pay attention grandad! You’re not in England! Yes, your appointment is still on!’, we read today in the Guardian:

Strike could push number of appointments cancelled due to NHS industrial action over a million.

More than 830,000 appointments have already been postponed as a result of industrial action since December, which is estimated to have cost the NHS about £1bn.

Sir Julian Hartley, the chief executive of NHS Providers, said cancellations could hit a million after strikes by junior doctors and consultants in August. “Trust leaders are very worried about six more days of severe disruption across the NHS this month. We could be close to a tipping point.

With a tenth of England’s population, had there been any health service strikes in Scotland, that million becomes 100 000 appointments cancelled. Imagine the ‘anger’ reported by the Labour party branch in Scotland, on BBC Scotland?

Successive SNP health secretaries are now confirmed to have been, by some way, the best health secretaries in the UK.

  1. And yet, it’s the Scottish health secretaries who’s sackings are frequently called for by Jackie Baillie and her colleagues and numerous members of the tory party. Why do some people not recognise hypocrisy when it hits them square between the eyes?

  2. Clearly Damn Jackie Baillie does not recognise the merits of the Scottish NHS . Why should she when her every misleading/lying utterance is promoted as fact by a disgraceful Scottish media , particularly BBCScorchedland which regularly assaults our senses by displaying her visage – usually at teatime ! Urrgh !
It cannot be denied that adopting a position whereby she seeks to undermine the SG at every opportunity has provided her with a personal high profile and this has seen her duly rewarded for her constant Fifth Column activities in her adopted country .

  3. Strange how the BBC priorities news, the strike in England does not affect Scotland so no coverage but coverage of the details of civil service credit card spending in Scotland suggests it had global repercussions.
After a spat with the SNP whip Angus MacNeil accepted his suspension, then changed his mind and described it as a kangaroo court verdict before announcing that he would not accept the party whip in Westminster at the end of his suspension but would reconsider his decision on rejoining in October after the party conference.
As the nomination and selection process for prospective Westminster parliamentary candidates will be completed in September, with branches already considering nominations the SNP obviously had to clarify his status.
