Banned permanently from Reddit Scotland for not lying down

I’ve now been permanently banned from https://www.reddit.com/r/Scotland/

72 and never ever banned from anything ever before.

Unfamiliar with the site, I had missed the message banning me for 5 days and so, unable to respond to the barrage of joyful and offensive comment from some of the readers who had earlier had a humour bypass on my satirical spoof mock-ups, I blogged and shared with the National.

Again, denied the normal in this country, right to explain to those who do not/cannot get satire, indeed were worryingly maddened by it, I did ask friends to share the blog piece doing that, on r/Scotland. One only did so but it seems that is ‘brigading the sub’ and ‘harassing the moderation team.’ I saw absolutely no evidence of harassing the anon moderators but did see plenty attempts by hostile commentators to have me banned or worse. None have been banned.

I have written to the Reddit CE in the US.

  1. Freedom of speech/press in the UK?
But only if you are “one of us”, as Maggie had it.
I dont expect a UK under Sir Maggie Starmer to be any different.
Will he report to Rupert, like his hero Blair?

“Brit Nits R us” as Beeb North Brit might put it (via Glenn and Juan).

  2. Saw what happened. I was banned a couple of months ago, and I was a prolific poster. The sub has become very right-wing, with tolls and bots all over the place. It’s extremely aggressive and the pact mentality is alive and well. I am actually quite sickened by the sub. It does not represent Scotland.

Well done for taking a stance against the nonsense on that sub.

    1. Quora is going exactly the same way. The Scottish Independence space is regularly used by trolls to deny, poke fun at, post nonsense about the SNP and independence, often using foul language. Reporting them falls on deaf ears, but woe betide anyone who attempts to fight fire with fire – the wrath of the moderators comes down heavily upon them.
A lot of those trolls are English who appear to be remarkably ill-informed – but a few are Scots who should know better, who regularly leave the safety of their Scotland in the UK space, attack then hastily retreat, firstly having made sure that normal people can’t reply to their comments.

      1. Yup. There is a gang of them, with foul language and horrible posts destroying the sub. The sub is horrible. It’s a very small number of them and the mods are ‘in on it’.

God knows what outsiders think with the abuse they get for simply saying hello. It’s a dangerous and sad sub. I hope Reddit act and shut it down. Disgusting place.

      2. my only disagreement with this is that Quora went on this journey some time ago.
There are to be fair a few threads where there i s genuine debate, but too many follow the Unionist MO that if you cant win the argument resort to abuse and fanciful nonsense and deliberate confusion (eg confusing party with government). much of it written by folk who claim to have been born here but dont seem to have been here since.
But you dont need to go to Quora or Reddit to see this – the Herald and Scotsman are well down the road already. The former vexes me very much as I used to spen a good deal of time there. For sure it had its complement of Unionists (many will remember OBE), but the thing that set it apart from the above, as well as its present state, is that for much of the dsy it was moderated full time (when not constructing crosswords)by a senior Journalist (the late Callum McDonald) who was determined his site would be for debate and set about doing this without fear or favour. But, shortly after the referendum the Herald went on a cost cutting spree and Callum left. The outcome of this is that posts remain up that woulnt have lasted two minutes in Callum’s day.

    2. The Westminster run “Nudge” unit has taken aim the place to push Conservative party propaganda and the moderation jumped at the chance to take the money. Sickening, it is a hive of neo-nazis at this point.

      1. Agree. It is awash with very far right views. Then the gang claim it’s all SNP.

I have watched the sub disintegrate into near Ukip values, and this is Scotland! Mods changed, place became a hive of alt users and boys. It’s the mods fault. They instigated and allowed the right-wing gang to destroy the sub.

        Hell mend them

  3. What is that Reddit forum anyway? Sounds like it’s just a bunch of huns putting Scotland down and banning anyone that offers a bit of push back.

  5. I was banned from there for questioning the less than hidden “elite” control over the Westmonster media machine.
It is a sick place full of huns and tories(scum).

  6. Think yourself lucky you’re banned. It’s full of freeloading work shy indy tossers like audioboxer, red bummer and stoned physchic to name a few. Shitty wee SNP echo chamber. They’re not taking the implosion well at all and it’s brilliant to watch.

      1. Wish you would re-spell ‘Torry’ to ‘Tory’. Torry is a good working class area in Aberdeen, while Tory is – (well, we know what it iis). Joe

  7. Never been on Reddit, not even to view.

I know I shouldn’t laugh but I couldn’t help it when I saw that, at the very end of their diatribe they put

“I have taken the decision to make your ban permanent.

    Have a good day”

    (I’m easily amused!)
