96% of survey respondents believe care home owners and not the Scottish Government are responsible for covid-19 deaths

This ‘snap’ survey of twitter-followers of the pro-Indy @ProfJWR suggests that 96% of pro-Independence respondents believe that private care home owners are mainly responsible for the outbreak of multiple deaths and not the Scottish Government.

Is this another example of pointless research by ivory bungalow retired academics? The care home owners charge the patients, make huge profits, and are responsible for recruiting and training the staff in, for example, infection control and out of their profits they are expected to provide protective clothing for the staff.

Who on earth does @ProfJWR think would be responsible?

Sheesh!

Probably the best comment was this:

Naturally concerned that this sample might be biased toward pro-Indy supporters and SNP members, the team took advice on sampling techniques and the reliability of saying anything meaningful based on this kind of study, from the GMB, the RCN, the BMA and of course, BBC Scotland.

The first three felt entitled to claim whatever they liked regardless of how small or self-selecting (‘squeaky wheel syndrome’) their sample was. BBC Scotland’s head of statistics, S Smith Jnr (16), said she’d get back to us once she’d had time to re-read her National 4 notes.
