From April 9th when there were a shocking 81 new deaths, the number of fatalities has fallen to 48, then 47, then 24 yesterday and now 9 today.
As for new cases, the last 24 hours saw one of the lowest numbers for some time with only 155, down from 322 on the previous day and at roughly that level for the previous two, and reinforcing the idea that we have moved just beyond the peak.
The 211 in intensive care is also down by 10 and is day 10 in a flat sequence around that level.
This is an achievement, averting catastrophe, which we can all take some pride in.

Remember this data release from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) is due tomorrow, 14 April:
‘Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional: week ending 3 April 2020’.
This will include the latest weekly data on registered deaths in E&W that ‘involve’ COFID-19. It will also report on these death registrations that relate to fatalities occurring outside of hospital – the ‘place of occurrence’ – including care homes.

(re ‘latest’: these ONS data are released 11 days after the end of the week that is being report on.)
