It'll be a big treat for the Jocks to have us back, won't it?

Town & Country today
Do let one in, Jock. I promise not to shoot any servants this time.
Charlie’s ‘ancestor’ back in 1665.
Braemar? No way! Oxford is far enough methinks!

Who will be next? Phil will have friends in Patagonia. Heinz wasn’t it?

  1. “Prince of Scotland”, and “Great Steward of Scotland” are his principle titles in Scotland (though you wont catch the media using them—too much like REAL titles for a REAL country).

Lord of the Isles is often used, though the media in Scotland can be too lazy to deal with Scottish-ness (I especially like it when the Scottish media comment ” The Prince of Wales, known as **** in Scotland”).

One of “his” islands will be Rockall—self isolation there would be good, for him and us!

But first, him and everyone else arriving in Scotland should be quarantined for 14 days.

    1. Thanks, Gavin. I was unaware of the “Prince of Scotland” and “Great Steward of Scotland” titles. Such things can often seem quaint and slightly funny historical anomalies, until we realise that in a state – the UK – which does not have a written constitution and in which the ‘Crown in Parliament’ and the ‘Privy Council’ still have significant powers ,especially in the absence of a scrutinising Parliament. Since he is the heir to the throne and, given his mother’s age, then he could well be the next King shortly and, if controls on movement become tighter, and Westminster needs powers to be operable in Scotland, because of the separate legal system, then his presence here means that such powers can be enacted by him.

  2. In an independent Scotland, all ports, airports and most importantly our southern land border would have been closed to all but commercial traffic.
As we are seeing in China a second phase infection is coming from people entering the country.
Once the initial phase is under control in Scotland,it will become even more important to monitor those entering our country and that will mean border controls.
Scotland is suffering the union dividend of having a national health policy driven by right wing ideologists in London who are desperate to maintain a market forces agenda.
To paraphrase our PM “F### the Plebs”.

  3. As I understand it , self isolation in 2nd homes is effectively banned after the FM’s statement yesterday, in order not to impose unnecessary burdens on our NHS and key services – like police. The duke of Rothesay (?) and his wife will no doubt travel with a significant retinue if they are staying a while, imposing further potential burdens. I simply can’t believe the downright cheek and disregard for the restrictions the rest of us have to accept.

  4. Indeed, I thought there was a lock-down, where people were required to remain in their own homes and no unnecessary travel? Or did I miss the bit about ‘only the plebs’?? How dare they came up here to use our better, well run NHS! Charlie’s MOTHER, effectively gave bozo the right to make a pig’s ear out of English politics & way of life… and now her son has the cheek to come up here to get away from the chaos down in their own neck of the woods. I’m all for immigrants’ coming to live among us, where they contribute to our society, pay their way & join their communities. I draw that line at being USED when it suits!!
