Read this carefully then look back at the BBC’s loyalist headline above:
Boris Johnson is launching a drive to equip the NHS with more ventilators, as No 10 indicated it could soon step up measures to tackle the coronavirus. These include “shielding” elderly and vulnerable people – where they are kept apart from the wider population – and asking entire families to self-isolate. The government has faced pressure to do more to tackle the epidemic after the UK death toll rose to 21 on Saturday.
Elderly people and their families are being asked to shield themselves from risk. The UK Government, under attack from numerous academics for doing too little to control the epidemic yet reluctant to spend on the mass testing they recommend, unlike the Scottish Government, have gone for a cheap strategy and put the responsibility upon individuals and their families to look after themselves. The ‘stepping up of measures’ is fake and the UK Government’s many critics will see it for what it is.
Language matters and, here, the BBC have helped the UK Government to hide its true nature in not really caring for the elderly, the sick or the poor.

Emerging scientific evidence on Covid-19 confirming what is basically common knowledge about infectious diseases. You are infectious before symptoms show and for a time after symptoms appear. That makes a nonsense of UK Government’s current instructions.

Radio 4 . . .(after 1pm ) Scotlands Chief Medical Officer Catherine Calderwood sayng that Scotland will not be asking elderly folk to self isolate in own homes for a lengthy period ( up to 4 months) and we will be relying on those with symptoms to self isolate with remainder of population to observe good hand hygene.
Has Radio Scotland broadcast this?
I’ve started listenning to radio4 news programmes, soon becomes apparent that this is what news should sound like. And that by comparison Radio Scotland news has little to do with informing its audience (victims)

Clydebuilt, don’t be impressed by R4 news! From many years of living in England, and listening to R4, I’d say that most of the time there’s no news of Scotland, and what little there is is generally of poor quality.

As someone who is over 70, this ‘announcement’ by the Secretary of State for Health for England really annoyed me. It was issued via an interview with the Sunday Telegraph and accessible only via a paywall. As usual, BBC Scotland broadcast it as applying to ALL of the UK. It was only later that we had advice from NHS Scotland and Ms Jeanne Freeman.
I am capable of obtaining information and advice and deciding the extent to which I wish to act on it. I am not going to accept what appears to be ‘house arrest’ for the ‘crime’ of having passed an arbitrary age.
I will seek to avoid doing things which might jeopardise others, but I also propose to be able to manage my own life – getting the shopping, collecting prescriptions, putting out rubbish, getting some exercise and fresh air and not overburdening younger people when they have their own lives to live. I will offer my assistance to friends and neighbours who are feeling under the weather or who are actually infected. If I should begin to feel poorly or get infected, then I will stay at home and accept assistance from others.
Westminster has been a morass of chaos and uncertainty. And its lackeys in the media are sewing uncertainty and creating fear. It is clear that Westminster’s principal interest is the market and the wealth of the hedge fund class.
More hearteningly, self-help groups are emerging at grass-roots level.
