As Coronavirus peak looms NHS Scotland A&E service is at least* staggering 20% better than NHS England

Health Secretary Jeanne Freeman has denied rumours of a big money transfer to NHS England

In October-December 2019, NHS England Type 1 (full) A&E departments saw only 71.5% of patients within 4 hours.

In the same period NHS Scotland saw 85.7% within 4 hours.

The 14.2% difference indicates that NHS Scotland performed 19.86% better [14.2 as percentage of 71.5].

*NHS England uses a counting system, restarting the clock after patients have been admitted, which suggests better performance than is actually the case.
