Major reduction in class sizes for younger pupils

Thanks to a parliamentary question by Neil Findlay on Tuesday 28th January 2020, we can reveal that only 224 out of more than 167 000 P1-3 pupils were taught in classes of 30 or more. This is less than a third of the 757 who were being taught in this class size in 2011.

Those taught in classes of 26 to 30 pupils were also fewer, down from 46 489 in 2015 to 43 410 in 2019.
