What propagandists have done for centuries, fight a proxy war. Find an area of responsibility, such as health, education or policing, which is infinitely improvable, where you hide the context and just say it’s not good enough.

As often, only the Reporting Scotland broadcasts and perhaps Good Morning Scotland, on radio, have picked out a supposed shortage of nurses.
Vacancies are up from 6.6% in March 2021 to 7.1% in September 2021 but there’s more to staffing than just vacancies and to call it a ‘shortfall’ is deceptive.
First, astonishingly, NHS Scotland has 50% more nurses, per head of population, in the first place, than NHS England. This from 2019:
Second, the current vacancy rate for nurses in England, is 10.3%, 30% higher than in Scotland.
There is of course no mention of the 10 000 EU nationals who used to work in the health and care sectors. Brexit anyone?
