The latest poll by Panelbase for the thinking man’s James Kelly (Scot Goes Pop) and the aesthete’s John Curtice, suggests 80 seats for the SNP, Greens and Alba (62%) and only 49 for the opposition parties (38%).
This doesn’t give the SNP an overall majority but, and I say this as an SNP member sore from pounding the streets locally, informal coalition with a harder-left party is no bad thing, that majority of 31 is whopping and, recognising the flaws inherent in too many of its new members, I’d welcome the presence of the Alba Party’s Salmond and MacAskill to add a bit of spirit to the campaign.

People have the right to self identify. In the interests of equality and compassion. Worldwide under International Law. Instead of self harming, depression, addiction, bullying and suicide.
There have been mixed changing facilities for years. In swimming pools and health facilities. It helps women and their families and friends access the facilities. There is total security, video and staff. Card access. It keeps women safer. Any problems can be easily overcome. Separate toilet facilities etc. Millions use them everyday.
The young have a totally different acceptance than some older people. They have never used the facilities but constantly complain. The young have been educated to equality and compassion.

There was a comment about women’s rights and anti self ID. It is gone. It looks a bit strange now. Unless it was on another thread.
Young one’s in the SNP supported it. Supported their pal. That set off a chain of events. Someone got banned from Twitter and the young ones left the SNP. They felt they had been let down. Shame.

This is ‘interesting’. I am frankly astonished that pro independence parties are set to sweep the board.
Happy days!

Great news about the Indy majority. Finally cracking the system. Designed by unionists to give the unionists a majority. Everything to look forward. To make Scotland and the world a better place.
The demise of the corruption and criminality of Westminster. The mismanagement and abuse of the UK regime and the economy. A more equal and prosperous society. The UK the most unequal place in the world. Scottish voters can change that position. Reverse the North/South divide. Well done everyone.

Great news as a broad church is better than a one person band, but…….
Could Sturgeon stay on as FM? She has a BIG public following.
It gives her a reasonable excuse (drop in SNP support), but who would replace her?
Anyway, let us just get over the line first.
I cannot wait for the wailing and gnashing of teeth—and that’s just the BEEB!

Just when I thought my admiration for you could not be any higher, John, you come out with the most sensible paragraph I’ve read about the situation we find ourselves in today. Kudos to you.
Now, what was it again? Guinness and a single malt?

Happy days indeed, that the BritNat parties appear to have had their day. There is a small problem however, in that the parties likely to gain power haven’t a clue about how to support social diversity or open democracy.

It is more than a little frustrating to see the cult of gender-ideology getting a free ride on the back of the independence movement, and that women in Scotland are now in more danger from good old-fashioned sexism and structural patriarchy, than they are from a state of independence.

I appreciate some will see my criticism of the SNP and the Greens as a threat to the indy movement, but that simply suggests I’m not doing a good enough job to highlight the dangers inherent in both party’s arbitrary and exclusionary stance towards women’s political inclusion and democratic rights. Which is easily rectifiable, but first needs recognition by the respective party HQs and popular acknowledgement, of the need for substantive policy and practice reviews.

So what is your agenda then?
Without independence human rights will disappear, the Tories plan to scrap those, for er, everyone excpet themselves of course. Honestly some of your comments and posts and links are good and interesting, but the anti SNP and Greens at the moment is not helpful, but it’s a distraction. Intentional or not.
We are just over a week from an incredibly important election for Scotland, the outcome determines Scotland’s very survival, and whether anyone (except the very rich) in Scotland will be able to say they are protected by any notion of human rights, or workers rights, etc.
I, like others here, am focussed on independence and to get there, we need a pro indy majority. As for ‘democracy’, the English government are doing an excellent job of undermining that in the UKOK, taking a wrecking ball to the economy, and even to peoples’ right to demonstrate for a start.
Only independence can secure democracy for Scotland, and with that, womens rights and the right to choose who actually governs them. I seem to recall Nicola Sturgeon working at getting a much welcome balance in the party, where women are involved in practice and in steering policy.
I really welcome the proposal to fund new business support for women in Scotland, that is empowering, and there is much more besides.
It might be helpful if you post a graph of % of women candidates standing in the election, and for which party. That would be really very helpful and a good use of the comments space.

I’m certainly not suggesting folks waste their votes with any of the BritNat parties, but it is imperative to open democracy that biological rights are not subourdinated to the will of man. As that would be about as harmful to the principles of social inclusion and participatory democracy, as English Torydum. Patriarchy hurts the poor and destroys the planet, and you can’t get much more patriarchal that contemporary British constitutionalism and Brexit.

I’m simply a powerless voice on t’internet, who is unlikely to undermine the “massive lead for pro independence parties in latest poll”. I just thought this an opportune moment to remind folks why biological rights are vital to the fabric of social democracy. Which I’d have though particularly relevant, given we are still facing the significant dangers associated with a rather nasty pandemic. And the amplification of its harms through decades of neo-liberal/monetarist practice in government.
