Herald reporter Elle Duffy has discovered a shocking factor in the ‘Coatbridge 9‘ Covid-19 outbreak, – 5 are of school age and 3 are not. The 9th member is presumably not of school age and not not of school age neither.
The Coatbridge cluster has been linked with a nearby Glasgow cluster and both with a house party at an undisclosed address.
Sources linked to a local university have said that which school some of the group were due to return to last week is irrelevant to their research and that media attention to this factor is both stupid and potentially damaging to the mental health of many in the communities and the schools.
It basically also tells us that there are children and adults in our communities who have the virus but are probably mostly asymptomatic. Which is why the ScotGov advice about minimising spread must be taken very seriously.
I wonder if everyone was tested, what the results would be.
Are children in schools being tested randomly, or only if they have symptoms?

There is a railway line between Easterhouse and Coatbridge – 1 stop. When the Tory Government introduced the Parents’ Charter (c1990), some parents in Easterhouse chose to send their children to the Coatbridge school. Will the Herald imply that the Thatcher/Major governments are responsible for this ‘cluster’?
